I was thinking the same thing Donut! Lol! Well...I gave the e-mail to the detective, and he asked me not to respond at all, that she did not deserve one from me. He said that he wants to continue the investigation, and make sure that she has not stolen anything in the past before me. She currently stands at 72 transactions on ebay.

Get this, he was giong to speak to her later this week, but she happened to come into HIS OFFICE looking for an item that she herself had lost and was there to claim it in lost and found! How freaking ironic is that!

That's pretty funny, Larry! I hope they can sort out her doings....sounds like she's been 'finding' alot of books and 'forgetting' to take them to lost and found!

Larry, press the charges. You have No Idea how many suckers she's conned with the 'sweet little innocent me' act. How much you wanna bet this is how she covers tuition & rent while you struggle and slave to make ends meet honestly???

The best thing you can do for her is to make her accountable for what she's done so she can get her life turned around. Larry... Throw The Book At Her..!

(and they wonder why I play Paladins)

LOL, my ex-wife took a bunch of my books when she moved out, and I bought some of them back at the used book store.

I'm not 100% sure it's a felony she can be charged with. She would of had to of stolen it from you not just found the book in an empty desk. So Are you sure she took it and can you prove that she didn't just find it? Or has she sold many of these lost or stolen books to other students.
She may be charged with possesion and sale of a lost book. But then again, if she had it then it wouldn't be lost anymore. She would be charged with sale of a found book believed to be stolen. which is not a felony just not very honest.

I am repeating what the detective told me. I did not know it was a felony until he said that.
And he also said that if you find a book that is not your's the law requires you to do one of two things.
1. Leave it
2. Turn it in to Lost&Found.

Removing the book from the classroom was where she made the illegal move.

Also I have caught her in the lie that she told me. She said that she sent the first book to me that was supposedly lost in the mail, and that this book was her roomate's two weeks later. Now she confesses that this is the very book that she attempted to sell online, and it was not her roommate's. Therefore, that means that she never sent the book the first time, and made me wait a freaking month on the book, worrying about where it was and all that...meanwhile I am having to borrow a friend's book from class to do my work.

The girl's a little simple in the head, if you ask me. If I'd stolen a book and tried to sell it, the first thing I'd do is look at the name on the inside cover. On seeing "Larry Woodruff" there, I would not proceed to re-sell it to a guy of precisely that name. Unless you didn't write your name in there to begin with... either way, I do think you should press this for what it's worth. It's not fair that she should make a fool out of you.
