Or just fireball them and run away, then repeat numerous times.

I gone and done done did it!

It took me two more tries and cost me Minsc (I just raised him though) but I did it and mainly thanks to Aerie and Yoshimo. Yoshimo set a bunch of snares, Jaheira summoned a few baddies to attract the little buggers and Aerie sent a cloudkill wand at them...the cloudkill really hurt them and they were decimated by the traps....then I turned on my minor spell deflection and the beholder's paralysis got bounced off Aerie and took him out....and with one final double spell sequencer of Magic Missiles I was able to decimate that big eyed freak!

Yay Aerie!

Does it please you to opress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile upon the schemes of the wicked? Do you have eyes of flesh? Do you see as a mortal sees? Sometimes I feel like you want me to fail...

Congrats - but there are quite a few more gauths and beholders to go...

I find using a fire elemental is good. With other summoned creatures to distract the monster, the fire elemental chews up the monsters pretty good. All my party has to do is have tea while he does all the work.

They are easy. Have a mage cast improved inv on Minc, have some nice looking sword equiped sneak up on the Beholder and go berserk. They die in no time.

FIRE elementals for sure! Eternalsaiyen is correct! one or 2 fire elementals should be able to clear the dungeon for you- tip- use Jaheira's fire elementals since the mage-casted ones suck and last only a tenth of the time-- Cleric Aerial servants are similar to fire elementals and are handy in the Unseeing eye quest.

FYI, (this isnt really a spoiler), but if you install ToB, they change the Cloak of Reflecting...it no longer does back to source, but 'reflects spells away from the target'

So basically it gives him 100% MR...still lets you get a tank in to hackn'slash away

Good Luck!

Jan: Greetings, Everyone. Sorry, no gifts or souvenirs this time but I'll keep you all in mind the next time I'm gone. Oh, Keldorn: the gods say 'Hi' and that you should wash your underwear more thoroughly. Everyone ready? Let's go adventuring.
