Wow have I missed out on an interesting thread. I thought this post was just going to be a quick list of who and where, but it's much better than that.

I live in Freeport, Illinois. It's a small town (25,000) close to the Wisconsin border. I came here because I needed a job and the school was hiring a Debate Coach. It's pretty sad that when my wife and I hire a babysitter, the most exciting thing to do is go to the movies and maybe hit the Wal-Mart sale aisle (I know it's pathetic). We'd like to move, but I'm a stable person. My job is secure and we live without many inconveniences.

I speak a little Spanish, read a bit more and the State of Illinois says I am certified to teach it.

Draconia: I can totally relate to the kids being up late. I've spent many a night rocking my daughter (age 21 months) in one arm and the other hand clicking away at BG2.

Gee Moridin. It's not because its cold and snowy where you are right now and you have nothing better to do at the moment, is it? Just kidding. Actually if you want, send some of your snow down here to East Tennessee. It's just been cold here. No snow. I was hoping we would get some this winter so I could take a day of vacation and take the kids sleding. Doesn't look like we are going to get any this year though. Only snowed once last year.

Talieson,

I didn't see the offending posts-am at work so I only skimmed the topic at lunchtime.

My newsgroup was actually on the topic of cats as in pets. We had a very nasty split several yrs ago and many of us went to private lists after that as the trolls took over the main group. There were lots of sick things posted and I won't regale this group with them, suffice it to say, there are indeed, a lot of sick, immature and otherwise stupid people out there who think a computer and the anonymity it grants are license to be stupid/offensive. I really have only been on this board a short while but haven't seen much here. Maybe I don't read the right threads?

Moiraine.

I'm on the case.

Moridin.

Nice to hear you're thinking about visiting London. It's a fantastic City (although possibly a little expensive) and there's something for everyone. What kind of things do you like doing or what would you like to know? Ask away and I'll be happy to help in any way possible.

Talieson,

Well, that's reassuring! Now I won't have to abandon this board (love it!) or go hunting for one in Russian. (did see an IWD site in Russian once, could only follow it as I knew the topic. don't know the tech jargon for computing!)

Talieson, I did spend alot of money in Salt Lake. I go crazy in the craft stores. I do alot of crafts and there are no craft stores close to me. I have ordered some stuff off the internet. My husband is so great about it because he doesn't get mad at me when I spend a bundle. But it is not the same as going to the store. Usually my 4 yr old is the night owl. I let him watch cartoons as I play BG and come here.
Father Bronze, that is great that you do that. I let my husband sleep when my daughter(9 months) decides to stay up. Rocking in one arm and playing BG. Isn't that fun? But beware when you stop rocking. My daughter gets mad when I stop. I have to try and not get overly excited when I finally beat a battle that I am having trouble with because she wakes up and gets really cross at me for waking her.
Everyone have a great day!!!
Fighter-theif, good luck on your French.

Talieson,
If I could pack up every inch of snow and move it down there I would. I am into skiing, but that is about it. Having to get around day to day in this stuff does not make up for the few weekends I do get to go skiing. You mean you don't want to pack up the kids for a trip up norht just to go sledding

Charlie,
Thanks for the offer of advice. I have been to Europe 9 times but have never been to London, even though my wife (well soon to be ex-wife, or maybe not, but I won't go there) is from London, but her family lives in Scotland, so I have been all over Scotland and Ireland. I have heard it is expensive there, but just how expensive are we talking. I live in Mpls, so I am a little accustomed to city expenses. As for things to do, I like gaming (obviously), traveling (obviously), and I am history buff (that is what most of my traveling is for) other than that nothing special, just go out and have a good time. I was born and raised in Minnesota and just want to get away (and now with Bush as president it seems like a good time to leave the country!).

Totally off-thread off-topic : Alas, a lot of fresh work has fallen today on my frail shoulders, involving a consequent number of long meetings away from my dear computer, so I will be popping in and out on the board during my working hours, but not be able to stay long each time, for the next week at least.

So ... nobody afraid I will leave the board, even if I don't post for a long time, OK ?

However, I'll stay in touch when I get home (around 18:30 to 20:00 PM for me, I don't know all your timelines, now it is 20:20 PM for me).

I love you all guys and girls !!! Take care.

Moridin, hi.

Just spoke to my brother who has spent time in Egan in Mpls to put relative costs in perspective. After he stopped gagging on his tea it appears that London is considerably more expensive than Mpls. If you drive or eat then particularly so, about six dollars (£4) for a gallon of fuel and around three dollars (£2) for a decent burger.

However if history is your thing then....well there's some mind blowing stuff. There's the Tower of London, Hampton Court, fantastic historical museums including Tutankhamun and other ancient Egyptian stuff if that's your forte. The rebuilt Globe theatre on its original site from where ancient high ranking Roman burials have recently been removed. There are almost always archaeological digs going on somewhere. Parts of the original Roman wall that used to encircle Londinium.....Jeez, the list is endless, even Buck' House is now open to Joe public. Within very easy reach of London (an hours drive in any direction) are a plethora of magnificent castles, Leeds castle (apparently the most beautiful castle in the world), Windsor castle, the battle of Hastings site and museum...it goes on and on. If you want to mail me I could send you some tourist information stuff that is easily available to me, it would give you so much more info' than is possible for me.

The nightlife never stops in London, there's theatre's, opera's, casino's and nightclubs aplenty in the West end, something for everyone, basically, you want it...you got it.

Anyhow, if you want any specific information then feel free to mail me and I'll do my best.

Best wishes from London.
