the mark up on software is ridiulous anyway, even if there has been much hardwork put into it.

Well i weren´t aware of that, but well if you think it is high price to pay for a game, well I suppose you could do without them???
I guess not, well I´m sorry for the harsh words, hope you can borrow the manual if you new to this!

OK?

omegadawn, the reason that lower AC is better is if
your THAC0 is 10, a monster has a AC -4, 10-(-4)=14,
than you have to roll a 14 or better to hit, it
decreases your chance to hit(7/20*100%=35% chance to hit),
and if you have a AC of -10, it means your opponents must
have a THAC0 of -9 to hit you, quite awesome.
And everyone who plays the BG2 should pay for it...

Ok, I'd like to say a few things. THANK YOU OMEGADAWN!! Ironfist... I had -10 armor class when I used a shield rather than two katana's. What are they only allowed to hit you when it's a critical hit? Or maybe thats what the +1, +2, +3 bonuses on weapons do.
And about the piracy vigilantes... you can kiss my rosy hairy ass... I was actually expecting them... my reasoning is that I would never normally buy this game. I've got Diablo 2, FF8, Revenent, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Tourment, Halflife, Broodwars, Age of Kings, and a bunch more. I paid the full amount at an actual STORE for those. Now something like Baldur's Gate 2 is just some nifty game that my friend wasn't using (which he bought with REAL money (not that paper stuff, thats just useless)) so who am I to refuse playing around with a game for a while? Now if this game doesn't FRUSTRATE me in the end like the other one did... I may just be happy enough to actually buy the bugger (though I don't really see the point). No this isn't made to make you eat your words. I'm just telling you guys the actual situation.

ArmageddonX, what I mean is your enemies need a basic THAC0 of -8 to hit you successfully every hit(I forgot the critical misses, when you roll a 1) if you have a AC of -10, but if they have a THAC0 of 10, the only way
they can hit you is by critical hits(roll a 20). And you are right about the bonuses, there are also other things
which can increase your chance to hit, ie high strength(17-25),weapon specialisation and spells. In the gameplay you
can turn on "show hit roll" so you can see your hit bonuses, etc. And 1d10 is a 10 sided dice, and 2d6 is 2*1d6(I suppose). Saving throws are also decided by a d20 dice. If your saving throw for spell is 10, then you have to
roll a 10 or higher to avoid a spell against you, with bonuses your S.T decrease and get better chance.

About piracy, I never am against it, my pc is full of it, mp3, games. What I mean was if you really like the
game I think you should pay for it, by doing it you support the company so they can provide us more excellent
games in future, that's my opinion, and you can do what ever suit you.

I have no probs with you playing a borrowed copy, so long as someone paid for it. Hell when I solved planescape it was a borrowed copy. I liked it so much I bought it when it came out half price and solved it again. My anti piracy comments sure stired up a hornets nest huh?
Lol

Mantis: Yeah there is a big mark up on games. But we can blame GST and John Howard for that, not black isle!

hi all

i actually make it policy to pirate all microsoft programs (they have too much money already). most of the games i have are the borrowed type and i actually got BG1 as a pirate. after i had just about finished it i went out and bought it as i wanted to support the company and get the book.

that a good point Mandrake about mark up. it pay to shop around too, i found $15 difference, only after i had already bought it (i couldn't wait to shop around just went to the second nearest shop and bought it, first had already sold out.)

It a tough issue as there is a lot of programs out there that are way overpriced (tax) and when you have a go of them first you can make up your own mind if you want to buy it. they should set up some thing where you can pay the royalties to the company and bypass the governments greedy fingers.
