Thank you for helping me. I never owned BG1, thus I need a little help. When I generated my character, a sorcerer, I was asked to pick a bunch of spells, up to level 4. As I start the game, these spells don't seem to be in my arsenal of spells. I am having a tough time staying alive (I think the NPCs pretty much hate me by now) in the first level, and I'm frustrated because I can't seem to access the spells I chose. I am hesitant to rest, because all indications are that I am on a time clock to escape the dungeon.

You start out with no spells. You must sleep to get them. Rest and they shall be there.

Thanks, I am confused about one thing still; I did have five or so spells at the start, where did they come from?

I think you are talking about the "star" button which is abilities. You got these in BG1, (cure lt. wounds, draw upon holy might, etc.). These are innate abilities you have being the product of a god.

That is exactly what I was doing wrong. You completely answered my question. Thanks. I warned you that I was a newbie. LOL.
