Uh this is a bit awkward... But I just won £ 20,000 ...

Unfortunetly I have to be a U.K. Resident to win. Now, I live in Cuba, so It's not exactly easy for me to get this thingy sent into them. It was a lottery ticket that came in a magazine. It has a telephone number and mailing adress along with information on it. I'm basically looking for any trust-worthy individual in the UK to handel this. You will get somewhere between 25 and 50% of the winnings if you don't mind to do this by December 31, 2003. The clock is ticking, and this is absolutley freaking me out. IT says I've won somewhere between £ 25,000 and £ 15,000 O_O or even more? The details are still sketchy, but this card is ready and I mean it's a bloody straight flush... 5 in a row, 4 of the same kind etc... So Uh... If anyone is interested just like reply and if you want we'll get in touch wiht E-mail... One things for certain tho, I'm gonna donate about $1,000 American of it to Ironworks if this is for real!

So who'se up for the job? It says you have to be over 18 and a UK resident, you don't actually have to have purchased the ticket...

First off, better make sure that it is not a scam. Please read the article concerning similiar scam here.

Not that I am questioning your judgement, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

I've won several prizes, large amounts of cash, cars, holliday destinations.... except it's all bogus. Don't get too excited just yet dude. I don't mean to spoil your fun or anything, but there's a good chance this is a scam too.

Is it one of those 'if you get 3 symbols the same you've won a major prize' scratchcard?

They make their money by getting people to phone a premium rate number to find out exactly what you've won (at about £3 a minute) and it turns out you haven't won £20,000 at all, but a voucher for some money off a holiday. I had 2 of them last week alone, they are in all magazines, and I've never heard of anyone winning anything other than a voucher for a holiday.

Most likely a scam - sorry.

It sounds like a kind of scam typical to the UK. By that I mean no offense to anyone, simply that when I lived there I had a similiar experience - scams are worlwide.

Somewhere in the fine print it will say you *may* have one between £25'000 and £15'000 . I believe there is a legal requirement that in order to state that they have to actualy have at least one prize that large. But I've never heard of anyone actualy winning it. And the cost of claiming the prize you probably have won is almsot certainly larger than the value of the prize.

Well you've all had more experience with this sort of thing than me, You're right, from your descriptions and what i've read on the ticket it probably is a scam. I guess I'm just a silly American who'll belive anything that gets thrown to me out of a foreign magazine (yeah I found the ticket wedged into a Windows XP Magazine so it probably is bogus)

I had to check your address to see if you had not migrated to Nigeria from Cuba!

Just kidding

If it is false then the scum who devised the scam should be smacked down hard
