Finally managed to dispose of that pesky red dragon, Firkragg or whatever his name was, and wound up with a really nifty 2 handed sword. Can it be put to any good use later on in the game if I can't use it ( or should I just sell it? )

I have 6 of my own characters - no paladin, and have no intention of getting a paladin !!

None that I know of. It's actually one of the better swords in the
game. If not just for the magic resistance. I can't tell you how
many times Keldorn took a massive hit and a miss-timed fireball
exploded at his feet. Wastes everyone but him..Unfortunately, it's
only fifty-fifty..

Well, 50% magic resistance is pretty dam good in my book. As far as other uses, you could hang it over you character mantle place and tell big lies to all those that come over about the adventures you had with it...

If no paladin in the group...so sorry!

It would probably fetch a lot of money if you sold it though. That's defietly what I'd do, it isn't worth keeping as a souvenir.

If you intend to take your party to ToB, you can have a rogue (thief/bard) learn the 'use any item' ability, and then he'll be able to wield it. Personally, I never sell any of the special items, even if I don't use them. I like to have a virtual collection of trophies.

Can others have this ability?

You can wield Carsomyr even if you're not a paladin with "universal carsoymr patch" but it's a cheat of course.

You can't sell the 'Carsomyr', it's dulled out.

The sword can be used by thieves once they have high level ability "use any weapon". But that may come only in TOB.

you definatly can sell carsomyr. I have used the rather cheesy strategy of selling and stealing it back when I was short on cash
