Cops who go out on domestic assault calls should have a rope with nooze at the end of it and hand it to the husband if there is clear evidence he hit his wife... it should be clear to the b%&$%&%$ that they havelost their status as proper human beings so the rope is there to sort of help them out.

This is what Amnesty international is trying to raise awareness for this year. Domestic abuse against women worldwide.

She was Mike Tyson's punchingbag for a while. She's also an actress, played beside Eddy Murphy in "Boomerang", just to name one. [/QUOTE]Let's not forget Playboy, September 1994.

Now that was a good pictorial.

In a thread about women being abused ...

Maybe so, but she described it herself in pretty much the same words.

Ahh... domestic violence hype, one of my favorite debunking subjects. There has never been much good data regarding "Domestic Violence"... and there's a whole lot of hype, agendas and advocacy muddling up the problem.

If you look at arrest records it would appear that men are responsible for the majority of Domestic Violence, but of course the Police follow "The Deluth Model" which basically says that regardless of who starts a fight, they have to arrest the largest combatant.

If you look at sociological studies, you'll find that men and women initiate violence at approximately equal levels. If you include "verbal abuse" you STILL end up with men and women being about equally nasty to each other. Recent injury statistics indicate that women are about 2 times more likely to be injured enough to go to the hospital, but they don't take into account the stigma attached to a male who's being abused... a stigma that would tend to make him hide or lie about the source of his injuries.

One thing about these "Domestic Violence" hype results is that they're rarely about the broad "Domestic Violence", they most often are about Spousal Abuse. If you DO look at Child Abuse, you'll find that women are twice as likely to abuse their children. Of course since Domestic Violence is sold to us as a "MALE" problem, we're never going to adequately address the abuse of our children. Not good for kids, but important to maintain the victimhood illusion central to certain groups.

NOBODY deserves to be a victim of Domestic Violence, regardless of gender. It's about time we started treating Family Violence as the broad problem it is instead of the "man bad, woman victim" problem it isn't.

Thoran...if I may ask...what is your profession, course of study or personal experience that you would know these things so definitively?

I could easily provide ample information refuting your statements, but would like to know if this is just how you feel about things or if you actually have evidence of what you say.

THORAN, i agree with you. I know that in the several years that I was in law enforcement I saw both sides of this issue, and you are absolutely correct in that this is a much wider based problem than MAN bad WOMAN victim. i myself have actually seen cases where that man was afraid for his life to go home, therefore facing the stigma he came to the police station and asked for a personal escort to his home, he was laughed ast and made fun of but when we arrived the woman of the home was very much the aggressor as she told us she was going to gut him like a turkey if he stepped foot in that house....... this is not an isolated incident but it rather an all too often occorance. the police are even guilty of making assumptions when sent to these that the male I "always" the aggressor.

Please do not anyone think that women cannot hurt a man and therefore they cannot be the aggressor in domestic abuse. that is totally false.

Children are more likely to be abused by the mother it seems but that too is not an absolute. I have seen it pretty much on an equal basis. and if we are going to stop domestic abuse, this is the one that should be stopped first,,,,,, children are not able to defend themselves against adults and have no choice as to who they have as parents. stoping child abuse is way more important to me that stopping the other, because if you be woman or man in a situation where youare abused by your spouse........LEAVE..... you have the option, children do not.

sorry i will step off the soapbox to be pelted now........lol
