Just wondering if intellect effects your gainage on ability points per level? From what I've read in the manual, it sounds like it would give you more ability points, but I'm not sure. Any help or advice on this is much appreciated. Thanks.

Sure does, Javrix. As documented in the Best Tips thread up there, the number of skill points you get at a particular level is determined by your INT.

INT 0-7 - 1
8-11 - 2
12-15 - 3
16-19 - 4
20-23 - 5
24 - 6

There is one limitation... if you've changed classes, this doesn't apply until you meet or exceed your previous level. Until then, you get one skill point per level, no matter what your INT.

Intellect does have some impact on how many mana points you gain when you level up, as does SPI (I think); someone (Radek? ) did a study on it a while back, and posted a sneaky way to get a first level character with tons of mana. Involved leaving them in the inn, taking ankhs back to them, and resetting the game eventually, I think.

So yes, it also has an impact on how many spell points you get.

And I do like the new Emerald Dragon avatar as well! Beats the heck out of those four or five emeralds...

No. INT has no impact to the mana points. Number of mana points is controled by your SPI only. It's a bit difficult
1. The game seems to control the number of mana points in each magic school a similar way as it controls your number of HPs. If you have too few mana points in a magic school, you get SPI mana points for that school when you level up.
2. Every time you select a new spell for your spellbook during level up (not by using a book of magic!), you get SPI mana points for the school, which the spell belongs to.

The result is this:
1. At the beginning of the game, you have too few mana points in all magic schools. Every time you level up, you get SPI mana points for each magic school plus SPI mana points for a school, which the newly added spell belongs to.
2. Later on, you have enough mana points. The game ceases giving you SPI mana points for each magic school but you are still given SPI mana points for a new spell.
3. When you reach level 50 or so, your number of mana points becomes too low again. The game will start to give you "bonus" mana points again. The gap between (2) and (3) is caused by the fact that "SPI mana points" is an "elementary quantum" so that the simple adding spells to your spellbook causes condition "too many mana points" most likely.

So wonderfully meticulous, Radek, - really amazing. I start to believe that the missing traits will never be found when a person like you has yet been unable to find them.

Whenever one is in doubt, Radek can clearly set the issue straight! Thanks for clarifying, Radek, and I remain, as always, amazed by your analysis.

Once again, learned something without the need to ask first.
Thanks.
