Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files is where my cookies are stored nowadays.

Edit: User stands for your login account. There's also a folder named Cookies underneath Documents and Settings but AFAIK that has no real use. Deleting a cookie from there will not make a difference...

So that's where they are now, are they? There's another folder called Documents and Settings/default/Cookies which has a whole bunch of text files, but not the cookie I'm looking for...

Hmm, just looked in there and I couldn't find any cookies...are you using WinXP, Willow?

Edit: Just read your edit. Shouldn't the cookie have a thing in front of it that says cookie?

I don't remember it being this hard to delete a bloody cookie in Win98!!

Well deleting from the Temporary internet files directory should solve your problem. You didn't find any .txt files in there? I'm using Windows 2000 but it should be the same as in Windows XP, everything is.

And cookies are just small txt files. Perhaps there is a way to tag them so to speak, I don't know how though. Perhaps if you write protect the cookies you want to save and the clean the cookies from the Internet Options. I have no idea if it would work but you could try it.

Edit: Back up your cookies if you try this and don't want to lose them.

Have you ever tried Cookie Wall from Analog X? It's great. It helps you weed out some of those cookies on the outset. They also have an excellent pop up ad killer called POW. Plus all these proggies are free. I love Analog X.

Oh well, my problem seemed to fix itself while I was trying to figure out this XP cookie thing, so I've decided to leave it for now.

Try Tools/Internet Options/Settings/View Files

That will open up the cookies and internet temp files. If you do Tools/Internet Options/Delete Files first, it will get rid of the temp stuff from the cache and make your cookie hunt a little easier.
