Simple logic: it won't let you continue without a keyboard. So if it can't find one, it tells you to plug one in. And like Skywalker said, it isn't related to the operating system (ie, Windows) . Windows basically doesn't exist on the box until you see the first "Windows whatever" floodscreen.

The ones I posted were in-windows error messages. I have them printscreened. And yes, the keyboard worked when it "didn't".
I have something to ask you people who know stuff. My *stupid* friend said that all windows have a funny and evil error message programmed in to display it on the 6th day of the sixth month 2066. I knew immediatelly he was pulling my leg, and why it was impossible, but I now ask you, the computer literate: Why is this impossible?
Whoever gets this right gets a really big mental coockie and a round of applause.

Because dates stored in int32s wrap over to 0 in 2038? Somewhen around then anyway, and definately before 2066.

Same as the BIOS one: you can't continue without the only necesary input peripheral (ie, keyboard).

"Your modem is not responding. Please download new drivers."
While now 'download' is always used to mean 'from the internet', it actually means getting data onto your computer from another storage source - you can 'download' a file from a CD, for example.

"Your monitor is not responding and/or is not connected."
Win 98 can support multi screen systems. Basic proof: put it on a laptop, plug an external moniter in. You can have the same thing displaying on both screens at once. If one monitor is not responding, this message will still display on the other one. And the way it works, I doubt if the OS even knows how many monitors you have (and this would probably be an example of good programming, not bad).

Gee, Andrewas, you'z are fast. The max date on a 32-bit integer is 19-01-2038, that's where it resets back to the seventies. Respect, man!

I would say it's cuz they have yet to make a computer that will last 60 years into the future, so it would be impossible to have anything pre-programmed that far ahead. All of my 'puters have tanked after three or four years.
