I wish there was a way to take your character files and convert them from BG1/BG2 to Ice Wind Dale or the other way... Anyone know of such a thing?

Can't do it. U can bring characters from BGI to BGII, or from Icewind Dale to BGII, but not from BGI to Icewind Dale. Think about it, Icewind Dale characters start at level 1. If you want to make a level 1 clone of your BGI character use dalekeeper. Check theironworks.com if you're not familier with the keeper series....it's awesome.
