Don't judge so quickly The villagers, including Shinwiki, are no opponents. No XP worth of mentioning, no loot worth of mentioning and so on. On the other hand, Shinwiki quest gives you 4 worthy opponents, much more XP, an ankh, ... Well, the quest isn't for completely beginning parties and it needs some preparation

The ankh is in the treasure chest and it will be there even if one does not undertake Shinwiki's quest or not. He will not open the trapdoor, but by clicking on the trapdoor one can open it anyway.

But anyway - I am with you. The toads should not be hurt.

Hey guys,

please don't think I kill everything that moves on a map ,
Maybe I want to cuddle those toadies too, after I reached the city.

Do a search through the Best Tips thread, and you'll find a post on what the patch giveth and taketh away (and doeth nothing for). Let that be your guide. I played unpatched until I got stuck in Shurugeon Castle and couldn't exit without crashing. Applied the patch, kissed the problem goodbye.

The patch saved me once when I got stuck in the Snake Temple once & couldn't exit w/o crashing.

It seems to fix a lot more random things than it says...

I heard the patch could fix the "crazy dance;" I encountered the crazy dance once, and decided no way could my sanity survive multiple instances of this. Later, I found out that the patch makes some fun things unavailable, but they mainly seem to be "cheats" or "shortcuts." I think you will have a great time either way.

Unfortunately, the patch doesn't fix the crazy dance. It may reduce the frequency of the dance, but it doesn't eliminate it.

Really, the crazy dance is in no way a problem. One just has to step close enough to an object in order to pick it up.

I have completed the unpatched game six times now and apart from the first two days I played it the first time around I have not encountered the crazy dance even once because I knew where to place my party when picking up objects.

Thanks to all.

After I've finished my current expert game of W8 (hopefully next weekend, Nessie is waiting ), I'll start my first "real" game on W&W.
