A thought on beholders

I know about the tactics for beholder killing but i am playing a new game with a sorceror. It's still pretty early in the game but can you use spell imunity : necromancy on these guys ? It seems that all they throw at you are cause wounds, etc. Those are necromancy spells, so if you use that spell, can you just walk up to them and start hitting without getting hurt in the process ?

Only until they unleash some other sort of effect such as Disintegrate or Flesh to Stone, which are alteration effects. Depending upon what spells you have, try layering Spell Immunity for both necromancy and alteration, as well as Improved Invisibility and Melf's Minute Meteors.
