What do I need to make a good archer (other than a bow!). My characters always missing the enemy and its flying off to the side (and no, the target doesn't have deflect arrows feat). Is there anyway to make her more acurate? I have point blank shot, and about 21 dexterity, is there anything else?

I don't have the NWN manual with me, but I think there were a couple of other feats that would help with archery. I'll check when I get home, but you may want to look through the feats list.

Never hurts to buy enchanted arrows. You could also save up for those pretty rings and bracers that add Dex bonuses.

BTW, my rogue couldn't consistenly hit anything before 6th level. Some of her arrows would fly 20 ft. wide of the mark. So I wouldn't worry too much about accuracy if you're just starting out.

Some arrows.

Seriously though:
Ensure you pump plenty into your DEX. 21 is great.
Elves recieve a +1 racial attack bonus using bows
Make sure you take the following feats:
 • Weapon Focus: Longbow
 • Weapon Specialisation: Longbow
 • Improved Critical: Longbow
 • Point Blank Shot
 • Rapid Shot
Other than that, waiting until you get an enchanted bow/arrows/better attack bonuses is the only other thing you can do.

Have you got a standard bow, or one with bonuses? I don't know about it, other than that.

P.S. Nope, the only head with a long beared and hat is dwarven, I believe.

Are you using a ranger or a fighter? I ask because if I recall correctly rangers don't get * Weapon Specialisation: .

True, but investing in a level of fighter in order to get this is well worth it when playing as a ranger paladin or barbarian. Up to 10 damage extra every round is significant .

...a whole lot of patience and the good graces of the gods.

Seriously, I usually play straight classes (much to the disgust of Septfox and Budha), and actually have little difficulty in doing so. I simply 'sacrifice' a few skill points in non-class skills such as lock-pick so I don't have to bash everything in, etc. Only problem I have with the NWN ranger is the waiting for *any* spell available until level (shoot, just escaped me what level>>>) Other than that, decide what weapon(s) you want to use and go for it!

I usually use a composite longbow, preferably a + one, for wicked damage. Any less seems a waste.

What do you need to be an archer besides a bow?

You are on the right track with your DEX at 21, etc. I would suggest that you get yourself some sure strike arrows: they rock and for those heavily armoured targets, they are a must. You can find sure srike arrows various places in the game...can't recall if you can buy them or not; if you can they would be a super-expensive item so don't waste them on weaker targets.
