Hi I just bought a PDA that plays MP3 music files. Except all my CDs have music files like Avi and others. Anyway to freely convert them to mp3 and upload to PDA?!

You have sound files in .avi format? Or are there actually video in them as well? If there is you can extract the sound using Virtualdub. If you only have sound can't you burn them with Nero as Audio CD? Just choose to burn an Audio CD and then add the avi files as you would mp3. Not sure if that'll work though.

Ahh then you can burn them directly with Nero (if you have that, if you don't get it ). If you have Nero 5 there's a plugin that adds wma support: http://www.nero.com/en/wma-plugin.php
