Improved Faldorn (spoilers, but who cares) - Page 6

I agree that it's overpowered, which is why I put "Rebalanced" in quotes. [img]smile.gif[/img] I don't install it generally, but I wanted to see how it'd fare.

If nothing else, this proves just how overpowered it is - a Level 13 Cernd took out Improved Faldorn with a minimum of effort.

Do you think Weimer wrote the mod with the "rebalanced" shapeshifter in mind. Maybe using that to test dificulty prior to release? If his cernd is rebalanced, it might not have seemed so tough. that might explain why faldorn is so overpowered. not saying it is good or bad but might explain why it's SO difficult.

Powerful in melee she may be, but at least the odds will be improved. If memory serves me well (I hope), the PfMagic scroll does not nullify effects from potions; so a little prebuffing and you are set to go.

Some may question the honour in this tactic, but I have long since stopped caring about honour when it comes to defeating most Tactics components.

Regarding a PfM scroll...

If you have Cernd use it on himself, he'll get ripped to shreds.

If you have Jaheira use it on herself, she's not going to be able to hurt Faldorn, I would guess, since she'll then be limited to whacking at her with the Quarterstaff.

If you want to use it on Faldorn (possibly dispelling her buffs & preventing spell-casting), then you run into the idea that "throwing objects into the pit is wrong". It may be worth checking if someone outside the pit could use it on her while she's in the pit.

I dunno - it might be worth a shot, but Faldorn's such a melee beast that you really need Ironskins active just to survive the first couple of rounds, so using it on one of your characters isn't likely to help (besides, the only spell you really need to fear is Creeping Doom).

If you use on yourself, you're gonna be ripped to shreads in melee without Iron Skins.

One very annoying thing with Imp. Faldorn is this - if you don't kill her (or do it the evil way), a certain merchant (Raafee) won't sell to you. And he is one of only two merchants who sell very important spells before Underdark. (like PFMW, True Sight, ...) And there is only one certain location of PFMW scroll in before Underdark that I know of - and it's very hard to get there for a low level party.

Six. I just found a simple way to defeat Improved Faldorn.

Weimer has modded (i.e. cheesed) Cernd to have a decent chance of beating her. For some reason he has several thousand hitpoints and they fight for several minutes before a winner is decided.

Well good

The downside is the party doesn't get the experience, because Cernd isn't in the party and is fighting the dual on his own. If you try and get Cernd to fight her legitimately... God help you.
