Improved Abazigal crashes for me when I use the Time Stop + Harm combination. (Well, he dies anyways in something like 4 rounds with warriors) And Yaga-Shura, for me, I still find it easier to buff up using Resist Fire spells/items and whack him to death.

Oops, I mean that Improved Abazigal stays at Near Death when I use that combo on him.

You want potency in combat? Consider the ramifications of that humble, "worthless" first-level spell, Sanctuary. 'nuff said.

I find it strange that no one has mentioned Raise Dead.
Turn Undead is sweet: Nothing quite like walking in a dungeon destroying all manner of nasty rotting things as soon as they come into view without lifting your finger more than once. PS: is there a mod somewhere that would make silence 15' radius the mini-dead magic-zone that it is supposed to be? Something that I miss about that spell from the tabletop game ![]() |

Raise dead? Do I see a Rod of Ressurection anywhere? Thought so.
Turn undead can be useful though.

Rod of Resurrection?
If you want to waste gold, sure. After all we know mages don't spend a copper for their scrolls... Oh wait, that's a cleric/druid thing too ![]() |

small item spoiler
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A Rod of resurection can be found in Mekraths abode in the temple sewers. And as it is the Rod is much better that it's spell counterparts. As for wich class is better, it depends on how you play them: I've seen players who try a wizard and have no luck, but with a cleric they waltz through the game and vice versa. As for pure destructive force, none can match the output of a sorcerer, timestops and ADHW in chapter two are just lethal. Clerics and mages a both very powerful classes IF you play them correctly, they both also have the potential to be horible if played incorectly. To each his own on the matter of wich one is better.

Um, lets face it, this is a moot point. Wizards own Clerics, period. In 2E edition anyway. Especially in BG2, where Clerics get the MAJOR shaft. 3E actually favors the cleric, with much more diverse and higher spell selections, and the ability to actually fight.
In BG2, a typical example of your cleric: Walk around with High AC, try to swing at your target, miss, stand around and cast a spell. WHILE casting the spell, the wizard casts timestop, improved alacrity, and before the cleric gets his spell off, the battle is already over. |
