Nah, neither do I...just seems wrong to me.

Oh, and I fixed the sound problem. For some reason after re-installing Windows because of a different unrelated problem reinstalling the 53.03 video driver fixed both the visual and sound issues and the game runs perfectly now...really odd. But I ain't complaining.

So that's what the mastery does? Whoa...my strength mus be through the roof then cos I had 16 to start with, plus the 3 from my mastery and plus 5 from some gauntlets...24! Whoa, I have to check this out!
I am glad that you finally solved your sound problem.

Yep, I tried to play as dark side, but the gameplay is rather shallow. You have to beat the sh*t up of some helpless people, rob money from a widow, be extremely rude to your party members and also other people as well.

It seems that dark jedis are no common than the stupid Vulkar swoop gang thugs. If I am going to play as a Dark Jedi, I want to be EVIL.

I would want to:
1. Beat the sh*t up of some arrogant Pazaak opponents.
2. Recruit more dark aligned party members, as early as Taris.
3. Head to Korriban right away after Taris.
4. Use better Dark Jedi items.

I think it is because of the Star Wars franchise thingy that Bioware have to "unbalanced" the dark side as no more than petty thieves and a$$holes.

In any case, I would still probably played mostly as the light side. it is just "plain" wrong to be evil, even it is only a game.

KoTOR is based on a D20 rule set, but with a slight twist:

1. Maximum level = 20

2. Spells = Force Powers

3. Armor Class = Defence; the high the number, the better it is.

4. Base attack bonus (BAB) and "to hit bonus = THAC0 but since armor class is rate as the higher the better, this aspect is more like the 3.5 D&D rule.

5. Mana = force points. In this case, force points do regenerate over time. No need to quaff down multiple mana potions. And there aren't any mana potions either...

6. Less Force power VS spells. But the Each Force Power can be upgraded to higher levela and most of them are quite powerful at higher levels.

7. maximum ACTIVE party members = 3. The rest of your "minions" are stationed at your safe house, in this case your ship-- The Ebon Hawk.

8. All experiences are shared among part members - even though you may choose to use some party members more, the rest of the "inactive" party members do gain experience too. There is no "penalty" for leaving party members, similiarly there is no "bonus" for playing solo either.

9. No weight penalty - You can carry as many items as you like.

Finally....

10. Jedi = uber powerful paladin or fighter mage. Not to mention you get to play with either one handed, two handed (double bladed-- Darth Maul anyone?) or wielding two lightsabers.

Sounds good? Yes, it is THAT good.

No actually I don't think he looks like Jon Irenicus. But, as with Darth Vader (breathing mask) and Irenicus (just a face mask), Malak also has a facial displacement (he has no jaw).

Oh Yeah, Malak's jaw. The best "explaination" I heard was from Bioware's forum about Malak having a shaving accident with a lightsaber.

Just picture this:

Malak: ~hmmm~ ~hmmmhmmmm~ (shaving and humming some dark tune)

Aide: Lord Malak...

Malak: *gurgle* (oops...)

Malak: *gurgle* (pissed off but can't speak)

Aide: *gurgle* (being force choked by Malak)... Sir... your... coffee...is....read.yyy... (dead)
LOL! That made me laugh out loud, for real! I can just picture that...

Joking aside, could a valid excuse be abuse of the dark side? I mean Darth Sidious (Emperor) looked about 90-ish when in reality he was supposed to be something like 30 - 40 years old, and he looked like that because the dark side of the force eats away at you...

Even so, pretty funny situation...I mean, would his jaw just drop off?

Malak: Destroy the pla-" Splat!
Malak: ??

You think being evil is hard? Let me tell you, trying to be good is even harder. They give me no choice but to slaughter armies of foes wherever I go! I'm a Jedi! Where's my 'Jedi Stealth' (Obi-Wan sneaking around Death Star)? Where's my ability to distract foes by making them think they heard a noise (Obi-Wan again)? As things stand, I have to use Stasis to freeze people and then run past them, and that's murder because then I can't stop my party killing them too without severe micromanagement. I know you can legitimately cut your way through the opposition in this game and still be a Lighter than Light Jedi, but to me that feels *wrong*, not if I should have the power to prevent it.

There are some valid points in your post Tancred, BUT...

The light side only fight to defend himself or herself whereas the dark side would most likely provoking people to fight.

Most of the time, I used my persuasion skill to avoid combat, but since this is a RPG game after all, it would be boring for my uber Guadian to talk his way out of all situation, wouldn't it?

When it is time to kick some a$$, the light side is as good as the dark side. But if there are some peaceful solutions, the light side will try to exploit it.

Just my 2 cents...

I have a question about swoop racing...is there any way to upgrade your bike? I have searched for a merchnat who sells parts, but even the ones that say they do, don't! Do I have to use droid parts? Is it upgradeable at all? It's just that lots of NPCs talk about bike upgrades, and the times you have to beat seem pretty hard to beat without some kind of speed boost...
