I believe they are going to do what they did with the 3.x versions and that is multiple MMs -- but this is only a guess of mine.
Still, no metallic dragons is odd and if I am not mistaking there are other Were creatures also missing from the 4e MM. |

I got the PHB, and it looks to me like there are going to have to be a lot of supplements to make it into the game that either 2nd ed. or 3.5 ed. was. I foresee Wilderness Adventures and Dungeon Delving guides reminiscent of 1st ed. to get skills and feats type features rounded out.
I still find the game that existed at 2nd ed., complete with all the class handbooks, to be the best version of the game. It was quite comprehensive, allowed for any time of activity, and wasn't overly Monty Haul. Maybe I'm just a fuddy duddy, but I really don't see this as anything but a bit of a "dumbing down" and "powering up" of the game. |
