Hmm, A64's are definately quickest when the HTT and memory speed run in sync, but they take nothing like the performance hit that older Athlons took when running the FSB and memory at different speeds.

I have however heard that A64's don't run as efficiently on 0.5 multipliers. You know your chip hits 2.6 nice and stable, but 2.75 is starting to get unstable. Try (and this might be asking a lot from the board) 9*300 giving you 2.7GHz but run the memory on a divider (might be 333MHz or something in the ASUS bios). This would leave your memory at 250 (which might allow you to tighten up the timmings a little). One thing for sure is that A64's *love* tight timmings.

Also try and get that voltage to about 1.55 which is fine for a Winchester

As for which will be quickest? Run superpi and see .

Ross, try this.

9.5 * 275 = 2612.5, which works and is stable
Try 10 * 260

Check that for stability. Then increase the FSB incrementally until you get instability.

Increase the CPU voltage slightly when you find the limit and continue.

Dace - I was actually planning on tryiong 275x10 again, as I have the new BIOS which allows voltages up to 1.65. I am indeed running at 2750mhz right now, but I have a CPU/15 ratio. This is because the new BIOS (1.09) has a flaw. It doesn't let you adjust the DRAM configuration, and the jumperfree config at the same time. (Jumperfree = FSB, multiplier, VDimm, Vcore and PCI locks). This is very annoying as I don't know of any programs which can manually change DRAM configurations, and I can't use NTune as I can't boot with high settings on my my RAM and no PCI lock, I just get corruption. So basically I either have to wait for this to be fixed, or downgrade my BIOS.

I would accept that 9*275 is the limit for now, and leave it at that until your BIOS problem is fixed.

Got my BIOS fixed I think, for some settings anyway; as I just flashed to 1010. Surely 9.5x275 is better? Which runs perfectly stable.

Possibly.

Download the "Clockgen" utility and try the settings from within Windows.
