On my screen the difference can be made out Morg, so unless anyone has problems distinguishing those two colours they're alright with me.
DrowArchmage: the post is nearly ok, just for two minor details. You say that you have quite some dwarven equipment, and in the biography you don't state of any dealings with dwarves, who hold their own works pretty dear to their hearts and don't often give or sell them to strangers, and the other thing. The other minor detail is that you say that you had hunted orcs and goblins for a long while, yet again you don't say anything about that in the bio. If you just add valid explanations for both of these in the biography I can easily accept them. Oh and yellow shall do fine as a colour. And another minor note: I noticed a few spelling mistakes or maybe just typos in your post, might be an idea to run your posts through a spellchecker in the future. ![]() Edit: considering that DrowArchmage's yellow and Pieter Horsfeld's gold were pretty close together, I changed Pieter Horsfeld to pink. And in case anyone was wondering...
Aneuhl J’harna - pronounced: An-ee-ool(or An-e-yewl (the "h" is silent)) Jah-arn-na. Hope that clears things up a bit. |

A couple of observations from the peanut gallery.
1: There's always the possibility that his character is a compulsive liar, lol. 2: Be sure to close color tags. (this goes along the same vein as the request to scan for any obvious spelling errors) 3: Even if all you're doing is a simple, brief action try to envision yourself in your character's shoes, instead of "I walk into the inn and choose an empty table" something along the lines of "I walked into the direputable tavern, smoke stinging my eyes, and the scent of stew boiling in a cauldron long past the point where it should have been thrown out making a pungent note in my mind to be careful what I ordered. I scanned the faces, seeing a wave of disinterest from part of the crowd, and caution tinged slightly with fear from the other half. A table was empty near the far wall, not too far from the bar, and I chose that as my temporary roost for the next few hours while I attended to business." the latter reveals attention to detail, and an attempt to aid the GM in establishing mood and ambience, the former is a rather cavalier action that is there, but doesn't really do anything or let on that the environment exists for your character. After many mouseclicks and using my near non-existent drawing skills I present you with the map!
(light green areas are supposed to represent tropical forests, while darker green areas represent forest usually found in colder climates, mostly pine and brown lines are supposed to be roads) ![]() Descriptions to follow in next post. Note: near to nothing is known of most of the inner regions, knowledge mostly restricted to the regions close to the shore, they are just there so that I don't need to make two maps. And another note about distances: distance between Fort Paradisia and Dosrothon is about 800 kms (~500 miles), which makes the size of Paradisia about 1500km (~950 miles) by 1200 (~700 miles). The mainland which is referred to several times is about 8500 kms (~5000 miles) away. Distances are not to be taken as exact values. [ 01-15-2006, 06:13 PM: Message edited by: dplax ] |

Description of towns/villages mentioned on the map.
Human cities Dosrothon: Biggest city of Paradisia, yet not the earliest. It isn't public knowledge, but some members of Dosrothon's Town Council are also members of Paradisia's High Council a secretive organisation, which only intervenes in severe cases. Dosrothon is a very diversified city, its population exceeding one hundred thousand. Its inhabitants are mostly human, although other minorities of Paradisia choose mostly Dosrothon, because of the possibility to blend in in its large population. Seven Statues: First city of Paradisia, its name comes from the seven figureheads of the first ships to reach Paradisia, which are in the centre of the city's main square. Seven Statues has about fifteen thousand inhabitants, who mostly live from trade with the faraway lands. It has the most diversified population of the human cities, because of its trade, nearly a third of its population is non-human. Fort Paradisia: Another human settlement, played a crucial role in the Pirate War, it was with the recapture of Fort Paradisia, that a crucial victory was won over the pirates. Human city with a population of around ten thousand. Newhon: Small village, mostly living of agriculture, mostly supplies Dosrothon with its produce. Three thousand inhabitants. Keg: Another human settlement, built during siege of Fort Paradisia as a base for the military, still serves as biggest military base on Paradisia. Current population: around two thousand. Fisher's grave: Named for a particularly bloody incident of Paradisia's history, when two clans of fishermen got into a dispute over fishing territories, and the ensuing violence left hundreds dead. Skullport: Base of the pirate fleet and troops during the Pirate Wars was ransacked and nearly totally burnt to the ground by the Paradisian military during its capture, since been partially rebuilt. Seven hundred inhabitants. Dwarven Settlements: Hozmel: Half on the surface, half under ground Hozmel is the largest dwarven city outside of their homelands, far to the east. Due to the mountain under which it is nestled, the road to Hozmel from Dosrothon has to take a large detour. Around twenty thousand dwarves live in the city. Ruby: A small dwarven village, widely known for it's mines. Two and a half thousand inhabitants. Elven settlements Asnara: Not much is known about the secretive elves who founded Asnara, far away from all other settlements of Paradisia. Rumours tell that at least ten thousand elves live there, but the actual number might be much higher. A short history of recent times: The Pirate Wars as they became known were actually a bid by the mainland to gain a stricter control over the far away island of Paradisia close to seventy years ago. For half a dozen years they sent military supplies and war ships to the hidden coves of the Island of Pirates and started praying on merchant caravans in the southern waters around Paradisia. In a bold move three years later a large force landed next to Fort Paradisia, and took the city by surprise and treachery. The Paradisian High Council called a general mobilization, and after defeating the forces, which had laid siege to Seven Statues marched upon Fort Paradisia. The siege lasted two years, but finally ended with the capitulation of the occupying forces, some of whom fled into the jungles north of Fort Paradisia. The victorious Paradisian armies continued their offensive, and nearly completely destroyed the base of their enemy, Skullport. In a humiliating treaty, the Duke of Gowlington, leader of the would be conquerors had to capitulate and forsake any claims to Paradisia. Ever since, the inhabitants of Paradisia lived in peace.
