Paul, I wanted to thank you for your short story in the Realms of Shadow novel that accompanied the Return of the Archwizards trilogy. In that novel, there were many authors known and unknown to me that had their own art to add to the world that we found ourselves in while we were deeply bound by Troy Denning's great trilogy. However, not all of the short stories in that novel were very exciting and a few of them felt like they were in contradiction to some of the plot that Denning laid down. I will not mention specifics, but I was just feeling that some of the stories went waaay out there, and lost the track that they were supposed to be following. Not you, however! Your story of "Too Long in the Dark" was exceptionally good, better than...well, I had better not name anyone, right? Anyway, I loved the background story you portrayed, the addition to Denning's work that you offered, instead of trying to contradict his established world, and the ending was a great surprise! It had everything that makes me glad to have read it.
I would speak more clearly as to precisely what I mean, but I am sure there are people that may not have yet read it, and do not want to see spoilers here.

Where can I find a full list of your novels?

And a sort of late welcome to the boards, since I've been away for more than a week.

Welcome to Ironworks Mr. Kemp

My fantasy book reading has been limited, because I did not really start reading fantasy novels until a few years ago. To be honest I got interested in it because of this forum, so many were chatting about fantasy books they had read, and I had just got into playing CRPGs and enjoyed the stories in those... And of course me being one of those people who is constantly reading something, I was looking for another direction, another type of "genre" if you will, of books to read, as previously I had only read horror and romance novels for the most part, with a few misc. books tossed in. So as it stands the total of fantasy novels I have read so far are Goodkind, Jordan, and C.S. Friedman.

At this moment I am looking for more books to buy as I have run out of my latest batch LOL, and would like to try something new, so which book would you suggest as your "starting" book to read. I'd like to try one

Lady Z, I know I'm not the one you asked, but for FR books, the books began with The Moonshae Trilogy, I think by D. Niles. Anyway, Salvatore's Icewind Dale trilogy sort of set a standard many follow. And, for present-day FR books, it is my opinion that you won't get a lot of it without reading the Avatar trilogy (Shadowdale, Tantras, Waterdeep) or a synopsis thereof (there are quite a few, including some with some killer maps that may be out of production).

Oh, and Mr. Kemp I picked up Twilight and just began reading it.

Larry: Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed "Too Long in the Dark." It was fun story to write. Pleeancis sort of took over, as you might imagine.

Jorath: I more than please that you're enjoying Twilight Falling.

Dplax: Here's a list of novels that I either wrote or to which I contributed a story: Halls of Stormweather (story: "Resurrection"), Shadow's Witness (novel), Twilight Falling (novel), and Realms of Shadow (story: "Too Long in the Dark"). I've also had a few stories published in Dragon Mag. Looking forward, the second book in the Cale Trilogy, "Dawn of Night," will be released next year, and I'll also be contributing a short story to the "Realms of Dragon" anthology next year.

LadyZ: I'd recommend reading "Halls of Stormweather," followed by "Shadow's Witness," books 1 and 2 in the Sembia series. Sembia was designed to be a gateway series for new realms readers, so it does not require extensive FR knowledge going in.

Timber: Let me know what you think of TF. As I noted earlier in the thread, if you haven't read "Halls of Stormweather" and "Shadow's Witness" beforehand, some of TF may take a while to become clear, though I think it stands on its own well.

Well... I'm buying the books in french for my familly and friends, and the book got numbered in a very good way story wise. It does a great job of introducing the characters in the right order. I personally think the order they numbered them is the best when starting the Forgotten Relams series.

It would take a little time to post them all now and I have a cold, but tomorow I'll try to post it. You'll see. It make lots of sense.
