G'day everyone, checking in again...I'm a bit sporadic as I haven't got my broadband sorted yet. I should have my internet connection fully up and running by the end of the week.

I've found a place!! In Waltham, a 1BR in a place called Windsor Village for $1600/mth. Not bad digs, no view but quite large and it had all the amenities, including a WASHER DRYER in the place!! This was apparently a major rarity in Boston apartments, so I'm stoked. AND...this place is at least in the middle of some civilization - there's some commercial places (Star Market, CVS, TJ Maxx, Boston Chicken etc) a 2 min walk away and it's only 5mins from the centre of Waltham (not quite Sydney Metro, but it was WAAAY better than Needham). And in turn only about 10miles from Boston centre. Now I just need to get my Mass license (apparently even though I can drive here on my OZ license, I have to get a learners permit all over again before I can get a Mass license! ), buy a car and all will be well in Casa de Mario.

Anyway, I am getting my landline connected in the next couple of days and will be getting a US mobile # as well. I'll give Chewy a call and try to coordinate something with him and Bungleau. There's also a certain person coming around here next week who we ALL know...I'm hoping he can make it too.

Chewy, I've been doing my furniture shopping around Natick - very convenient with all the stores next to each other on Route 9. I've managed to find my way around the place pretty quick, actually - I amazed even myself. I did have to buy a map though.

Thanks for the advice everyone. RE the Red Sox, I'm finding it's extremely good timing to learn about baseball right about now.

The minute you step out of your country, they pull this. Honestly, can't you take a simple holiday without having to worry about your country doing this sort of thing while your back is turned?

I saw that...what a load of absolute pox. As if anyone would actually bother following that foolish directive.

Good job, Mario! You'll be all set up soon and probably running tours of the area the way you're going!

G'day mate - it's great over here in Scotland - there are no big headed poms getting delusional over a two run scraped victory and a meaningless draw. Hopefully Ireland will be just as clear of the Barmy Army as well . I touch down in London in about 3 hours and then it is off to Belfast.

PS : wot bastard stole my golf game. It was last seen headed south being blown down past Aberdeen by some Arctic gale. If found, please return to Davros (at some Irish pub)

Hey Memnoch congrats on finding a place! Did you goto Jordans furniture on RT 9 by chance? It's got an Imax theatre inside. Very strange...a furniture store with a huge Imax theatre. You got to see the place to believe it!

I totally agree - I was amazed to see Australians celebrating wildly about hanging on for a draw.

It just goes to show: "When the going gets tough, the tough get cheating!"

I was there when they were doing some American Idol thing. I haven't got all my furniture yet though - I might get my coffee table, side tables etc shipped by IKEA and I might get my desk via Staples. Cheaper and better looking, Jordans looks a bit too "housey".

Thanks for everyone's numbers, here's my situation. I'm supposed to be catching up for drinks with some people in my class on Thursday night at a place called McFadden's (I have no idea where that is). If we could somehow do our drinks (or even a cheap dinner) close by to there it will allow me to then make it to those drinks (networking and all that ). I'll leave it to Chewy to work out the best option and coordinate with Bungleau (and Machinehead if he wants to come along) as he has a phone and I don't (yet). As soon as I get a phone I'll be in touch with Chewy but if we can work via this thread we should be able to coordinate reasonably well.
Look at it this way:

1st Test - 230-odd run win to OZ
2nd Test - 2 run win to POM
3rd Test - Draw

Don't see what all the fuss is about, unless it's because of excitement that England haven't capitulated yet.

Works for me. Google says McFadden's is close to downtown, so it's a little ride in from the 'burbs. No big deal here, though... a drive is a drive. And I *enjoy* driving in Boston

Let's figure out as we get closer. My plans would be dinner and some *refreshments*, then eventually a drive to the western side of the state. Chewie, if you want to ride in and out, I can be a chauffeur Or if there's a better way to get downtown, I'm game for that too.

Machinehead, wherever you're at, the same thing holds.
