Actually he who sued first in 2000 lost the popular vote tally and was awarded the electoral win.

Here's a link with the election 2000 timeline. The very first lawsuit was filed by voters challenging the buttterfly ballot and it appears that it named both Gore and Bush among the Defendants. Bush filed the first suit challenging the recount.

I was looking over the opinions of the various courts in that case, Chewie. For my part, I commend you to check out Justices Souter's and Breyer's two dissenting opinions.

Here's why we're headed for the same catastrophe in this country again: bipolarization of our nation. As noted by the SCOTUS, in any given election in this nation, there is a 2% margin of error -- made up mostly of votes that don't get counted due to technical defects. That's a problem because in a recount (such as Florida's), you are by definition already within a window smaller than that. FL's law, for instance, requires a recount at 0.5% margin of victory.

The problem is simply that the margin of error is still greater than the likely margin of victory. A real damn dilemma.

Of course, we could scrap the party system, or establish real 3rd parties to try to break this gridlock.

I didn't say FEDERAL law suit, I said law suit the first suit was filed in STATE court. If that's his "A" game you are in trouble.
Now the web site listed has a dead link to the (Siegel v. LePore) in which it claims/blaims Bush.

"The first lawsuit is filed challenging Palm Beach's "butterfly ballot." there is also a dead link and no names mentioned.

Funny how when Bush voters/supportors file a Law suit Bush is linked yet when Gore voters/supportors file the first law suit Gore is mysteriously not linked. Only in the world of double standards. As the bummper stickers right after the 2000 election said SORE LOSERMAN

The first link works for me and open Adobe PDF files in my web browser. Clearly Gore/Lieberman and Bush/Cheney are among defendants in the very fisrt buttefly ballot lawsuit and clearly the plantiffs are regualr taxpaying voters/citizens who filed suit to complain about irregularities with their ballots. Get acrobat reader and see for yourself if you doubt.

The first politicians/political party to file a lawsuit were the Republicans Bush/Cheney. Gore's team made a lawful request for manual recounts-to an election board, not to a courtroom.
Quote:
Fl. Election law
For federal, statewide, state, and multicounty races and ballot issues, requests for a manual recount shall be made in writing to the state Elections Canvassing Commission. For all other races and ballot issues, requests for a manual recount shall be made in writing to the county canvassing board.
Bush/Cheney challenged this process in court.

Unless clear counter-proof is provided-rather than namecalling... Case closed on which candidate filed the first lawsuit.

Oh, I dont do it for the points, or to scorn people who take joy in opposition. I do it for the interest of the truth.

From what I can tell Gore didn't file a lawsuit until Nov. 27, 20 days after election day. Bush has him beat by 16 days!

Bushie-boy file the first lawsuit last time round, and it appears he's first to the courtroom this time, too. Don't mind me -- I'm just jealous he ain't my client!!!!!!!!!
