LOL Hey i didn't make the map of Iraq. If i did, the places would have names like Al Lutjebroek and stuff like that.

And i wasn't angry with you, i just wanted to make it clear that i'm not making things up.

Come on people...play nice! No name calling in any language and no trading insults. That will only get the thread closed and people banned or suspended.

Anyway....on topic:

The Military has confirmed the incident according to ABC news:
Story

Quote:
In Iraq, an American soldier has shot dead a rare Bengal tiger at the Baghdad zoo.

The manager of the Baghdad zoo said the tiger was shot dead after the animal injured an American soldier who was trying to feed it through the bars of its cage.

Adil Salman Mousa said the incident occurred while the soldiers were having a party after closing time at the zoo.

A US military spokesman confirmed that a coalition soldier shot and killed the Bengal tiger but gave no further details.

The tiger was one of two at the zoo, which once housed the largest collection in the Middle East.

In April, US soldiers killed four lions that escaped from the zoo.

Looters stole or let loose hundreds of other animals in the chaotic days after the fall of the Iraqi capital.

Question Mark

Fact. I 'am an American Soldier.
Fact. We are not allowed alcohol when deployed.
Fact. I only saw, drank, and watched other soldiers drink alcohol free beer in Iraq, Kosovo, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait. None of which was Heinenken!
Fact. General Order number 1. Is just that, a general order issued by a General Officer. To you civilians a GO is ranked with a Jude and his court order. And GO#1 states no alcohol for US service members while deployed.

I spent some time with a Dutch Tank BN(Leo I's) a few years back, and like other Eureopen Nations got beer with their rations. The US never has (in my time), and probably never will get alcohol with their rations.

So, whatever sign you saw, it must have been 1 April!

Fact. I re-deployed 6 MAY 1991 and have yet to see a Heineken for US service member on it!

Next Spring when we go down I will ask the guys we are releiving if they know anything about the Heineken program.

Felix

Maybe it was for the officers, how should i know ? All i know is that i saw a large amount of beer, labeled for US troops in the Gulf.

What's the big deal anyway ? A soldier can't have a nice cold beer in a warzone ? It's not that they are in the trenches 24/7, and besides, hasn't beer always been used by the militairy because it's good for morale ?

Fact. You accused Johnny of lying when you could have said "I think you must have been misinformed/mistaken"
Fact. You insulted him in makeshift German and haven't apologised yet.
Fact. I'll shut up now. Happy happy joy joy, group hug!!!

I will keep comments shut about speaking make shift German. But I will say I have a British Sergant Major friend who I can make go from calm to ready to fight in just one sentence. And the last I looked Britian did not touch this continent!

Besides 20.000 cases would hardly be enough for a heavy division, and we had close to 12 divisions there. Must have been for the rear echelon guys!

The current US policy is no alcohol when in a danger area. PERIOD. So, even thou the NATO troops in the Balkans drink, US soldiers cannot. And we sure as heck cannot drink down range. Unlike you over there in EUrope, we do not drink beer as the choice beverage. We usually drink beer after hours, not at 0900 first break. And I assure you General Order #1 is the no alcohol policy, for I have seen it, read it, touched it and have and will again live by it!
Is it not possible that the alchohol was destined for the US bases in Saudi Arabia or for naval vessels? I believe that Johnny said that it was bound for the gulf (exact end destination was unspecified).

Consider the possibility that you *both* might be right...
