Vin Diesel......hmmmmm.....not too sure about him carrying a whole film. As anyone who has seen xXx will testify.

The first film was fine however, and had the added bonus of Claudia (Farscape) Black

Aye, but I'd say her performance was cut a little short..

I have to say I enjoyed his performance in Saving Private Ryan, you get the idea that he was a good guy with a baudy sense of humor (the gay jokes with Mellish) and to see him go is just plain sad.

However, his dead-pan comic acting in Pitch Black was at times hilarious.

"You said it was clear!"

"I said it looked clear."

"How's it look now?"

*checks*

"Looks clear." - excellently wry line delivery, with a dead-serious expression on his face. I couldn't help but bust a gut when I saw that scene.

Well, looks like it's a sequel.
In the 10 minute preview, Riddick mentioned something of Keith David's character from Pitch Black.

A sequel in three parts supposedly. It should stand alone from Pitch Black though.

I suppose you mean Escape from Butcher Bay, the Xbox exclusive, and Dark Fury, the animated movie?

I'd gathered that Riddick escaped from Butcher Bay before Pitch Black.. it must have been a different security facility..

Every time I hear the doggone name Chronicles of Riddick, I think of my god ole 8-bit Nintendo for some reason...not sure why, maybe it's just the fact that that was the last I heard of "Chronicles" being used in a title...that, and Riddick sounds like a video game character from the mid-eighties...

I went and saw it Friday. Regarding my previous expectations of the movie, it was decent.
