I imported a BG1 party into BG2, and had at least some of the items on DSimpson's list equipped on party members or in inventories. (I didn't pick up the claw because I wanted the hat.) I still got the mail and the sword. I was hoping for the +3 chain or Ashideena.

That's very interesting! Could there be a mistake in the fabled Dan Simpsons faq! I don't know... It's certainly strange you never got these armours if you imported with them I've no idea why. I've never imported from BG1 myself so I've never tested it. Hmmm...

The Claw of Kazgaroth is the only item that I can personally vouch for appearing in Jon's dungeon if your PC had it in BG1.

The Helm of Opposite Alignment "quasi-existed" in the game in straight BG1, then with Tales of the Sword Coast installed, it was actually possibly to legitimately find the item in-game (albeit with extreme difficulty). Now in BG2, it's back to "quasi-existence" again: The only way to get it is by cheating.

The Helm is a nice idea, but it won't do what you want it to: Sure, it'll make Korgan turn Lawful Good, but he'll still be Korgan: He'll get pissed off and leave if the party's Reputation is too high, and he'll still fight with Good party members.
