I remember my first Sarge,

I owe my life to that man more times than I'd like to count. I sure as hell questioned what I was fighting for, but I never, ever once question the Sarge. He always wanted the best for us.

The concept of "Sarge" is slightly different here.
Everyone here (except for officers) is released as a first sergeant. While yes, i tell the privates what to do, it concernes only our quarters. Fix that lawn, pick up the garbage that sort of thing. The "polished buttons" is the part of the tasks that are given to our commanders. Leading men in the battle is not my task too. That is my commanders task and our officers'. In battle i am a simple loader.

The beneficial part of being a sergeant is that that i do not do all the menial tasks, like taking care of the garbage etc. I do work on my tank, and i do still these thrice darned tank ambushes, in a hope that i will get lucky and kill some terrorists.

Melchior- i did not up to this point heard about such a song, but than i am not radio fan either. I will look for such a song and tell you when it is being broadcasted here, though.
