Just a FYI, 300 watts is on the low side for the P4. I just upgraded to a P4 2.26GHz and had to up the power supply to 400watts. I was getting all kinds of flakey problems till I did so. So just watch out for problems there.

Umm guess I should say that I was trying to power 3 HD's 2 CD/DVD devices and a GF4 video card and 3 fans other than the CPU and Video fans. Anyway, the reason I posted is because my symptoms were so strange and random that it was hard to Trouble Shoot.

Thanks MagiK for the information. I almost bought a 400 Watt box, but a friend of mine told me that for what I am running, 300 Watts would do fine. It was a matter of about $50.00, and I had already spent too much money, so I went the cheap way. I am already in so much debt that I can feel every penny hit me hard now!

Oh..and I was not trying to make anyone jealous on this forum...I was just letting everybody know that I have at least caught up to the rest of you, since I was doing a P3 450 for the past 3 years.

On another note...do any of you think that I can build this thing on my own, or should I have my friend do it?

It is a very good learning exercise if you build it yourself Larry...but it can be frustrating if you are not technically adept [img]smile.gif[/img] I say go for it on your own and if you have probs, ask your friend for help [img]smile.gif[/img] One thing you MUST learn before you touch anything is ESD safety....Always keep yourself grounded...they provide little grounding straps these days but I just aslways make sure to be in skin to metal contact with the case when handling the components, especially Memory and the CPU.

As for the Power Supply, you can always change it out for a bigger one later [img]smile.gif[/img] they come out real easy and are pretty standardized.

I think I can build my own PC... you can do yours...

I agree with Magik too... I learned through tinkering with my PC... and now I know which is which and it is fun knowing what you need in the near future...

I forgot the most important tip for building your own PC from components......
