Maybe, but once they'd seen they weren't carrying bombs, returning their clothing and dignity would have been the better part of valor. I don't approve of the vandalism and looting for one minute, but I think the American's should conduct ourselves in a decent manner while doing the job that is set before them.

"Vandalism and looting?" I thought they were trying to steal automatic weapons from a weapons dump the US troops were storing small arms at. In the good ol' free (yeah, right) US of A, stealing guns from the government is quite the serious offense. I say they should have tried them in a court and put 'em in jail for 20 years. Or, they *could* have. I'd like to have one of these whiney babies by the neck right about now.

I guess some of the American Soldiers should be paraded through the street naked as well.

A gold-plated automatic rifle, believed to have belonged to a son of Saddam Hussein, is one of several "spoils of war" confiscated by U.S. officials from a returning soldier and members of the media. The list includes paintings, extravagant weaponry and a ceremonial dagger. Also under investigation: members of the U.S. 3rd Infantry who stumbled on a bricked-up house containing $650 million in U.S. currency, some of which has apparently gone missing.

Sorry Timber, my reply was typed up in a hurry -Stealing from themselves (looters) or stealing from the US army...still stealing, either way you look at it.

I stand by my comment that if they weren't detaining the would-be thieves, they should have given the clothing back. Handing back their clothes wouldn't have cost our troops anything, but would have sent a message that our troops aren't barbaric conqueors who can do anything they like on a whim and just might have made the point that they COULD have done worse, but didn't.
