Here's a little civics 101 that the BBC forgot to tell the people swallowing their story.
1) the U.S Consitution directs that in the Presidential Election the STATE legislatures decide how the Electors of their State are selected. The STATE legislatures decide What the LAWS are for the elections for President of the USA in the STATE that they are the Legislature of. In other words Florida can say you must do XY&Z while Alabama says you must do 123. the federal courts can't do a damn thing consitutionaly. Florida's election laws can say that a party offical can challenge a voter on legal grounds. The federal laws says you can't challenge a vote on racial grounds. So because a person has a certain racial genetic makeup they are alowed to violate the laws and vote illegaly? It's racist and bias agianst conservative white southern republican to assume they only doing this to a certian color skined humans. When the article says Most, not all every single one, no exceptions, are of a certain racial makeup. Did it accur to anyone that since the humans of the certian skin color are over whelmingly Democrats that maybe the Democrats are INTENTIONALY registering illegal voters? No Only the Republicans could ever even think about doing anything Illegal, Democrats would never do anything like that. Now lest anybody freak out the was designed to make you think, only you can decide for yourself weither it worked or not. Now what has probibly happened is that due to some stupid humans error some people that shouldn't vote have got on the rolls, these people should be challenged, no matter what their party membership, political lean, or skin color. SO YES I AM SAYING that it is ok to challenge any republican registered voters that are illegal.

Now over the years the Legislatures have let the courts usurp their power. Oh for the day when the States had to testonterone producing glands to tell the federal gov't to bite me.

It's not about whether or not its a legal allowance in FL. It's all about dirty pool, old man. It's about which party decided to start dragging out the lawyers first. For somebody who badmouths lawyers, Bush retains the finest on hand. This time they're acting preemptively, because it came darn too close last time.

The democrats could do the same. Tit for tat. Hang out in those counties along the Redneck Riviera and challenge all the illeterate beer swilling inbreds that stagger in with invalid voter registrations, I say!!!!

If it's a legal fight the Repugs want, well, hell the Dems can do that. Who do you think makes up their base?

Maybe we should turn this into a "Florida voting issues Mega Thread" or something, because there's more trouble coming up:

60,000 mailed ballots missing, Broward elections office says

JEAN-PAUL RENAUD

Knight Ridder Tribune News Service

FORT LAUDERDALE - The Broward County Supervisor of Elections office on Tuesday said it couldn't account for nearly 60,000 missing absentee ballots sent to voters and that its phone lines were being overwhelmed by calls.

Hoping to avoid another embarrassing election, Broward County commissioners Tuesday offered to send county employees to help. Dozens of county employees could begin assisting the elections office as early as today to answer telephone calls and to process voters at the 14 early voting sites.

"What we are seeing is unprecedented so if the supervisor of elections needs our help, we will help," county mayor Ilene Lieberman said.

Just six days away from the general election, the Supervisor of Elections office has fielded hundreds of complaints from people who have yet to receive their absentee ballot. Countless more have been unable to get through to election officials to complain or get their questions answered.

"I tried for the last week or so to call the elections office, and it's just busy continually," said 70 year-old Paula Zubatkin, whose four-week old request for an absentee ballot has gone unanswered. "I want to vote."

Election officials also said they launched an investigation and found that many of the missing ballots - 58,000 of them - were sent Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. The problem, they say, lies with the post office.

Post office officials say they are not at fault.

"We have employees that we assign to handle the absentee ballots that come in," said Enola C. Rice, spokeswoman for the Postal Service's South Florida District. "So all the absentee ballots that are received by the postal service are processed and delivered immediately."

She said most local mail is delivered in one day.

Some, like 68-year-old Myrna Davis, depended on her absentee ballot to vote. After they fruitlessly waited weeks for an absentee ballot, they decided to show up at an early voting site. But after a three-hour wait in line, they gave up.

"The heat was too great," Davis said. "Although there was air conditioning, there were so many people there, I couldn't tolerate it. I feel this is a third world country."

How can it be so difficult to run a free and fair democratic election.

Why did you feel the need to add the word 'fair' on top of the word 'democratic' ?

Hello Claude - good to see you about . I think perhaps Donut meant "fairly free" - or was it "freely fair" or perhaps none of the above?

Both have retained lawyers ahead of any election, Dems up to 10,000 of them. Now while you are decrying the Republicans, answer this who filed the 1st law suit in 2000? give you a hint he lost the election!

you folks that are complaining about a free fair election, BEFORE you try to put a feather in the cap of it's the Republicans fault. You might want to check out the county in question and find out which political party runs the supervisor of elections, and which party is in charge of mailing out the "lost" ballots. Hint their mascot is a jackass.
