Actually, if we could get everyone to follow this model, over-population might not be so bad.

Um.... let's not forget that the majority of these deaths (in Chicago at least) are "caught in crossfire" situations rather than "gun accident" situations.

I fully agree on the youngsters like guns part. I do to and if my country had according laws I would've gone shooting in my teens and would still go. Yet I don't really want to own a gun because I think the responsibility is to big for me
As for guns in the house making you more likely to get shot this is based on two reasons
+ If the burglar is armed he is more likely to use fire gun against an armed house-owner.
+ Many irresponsible gun owners don't know how to handle a gun well or place them in an easy to reach area thus actually equipping the burglar with a gun.

Oh, and note that I said "many irresponsible gun owners" and NOT "many gun owners are irresponsible"
.
And why some people think they need an M16 to deter burglars is beyond me

Have to admit that it always make me laugh when gun manfacturers describe Assault Weapons as 'Home Defence weapons.
The oxymoron is absurd.

I think the others were just some teenage friends and they probably haven't been charged because they were not conspirating only blowing off some steam in the woods which seems to be legal in the US (I wouldn't know).

But if you are a responsible gun owner (as they all claim to be), your gun will be locked away.
I don't lock my gun away, but i don't have a wife and kids, so i AM a responsible gunowner.

I couldn't positively identify the other ones, but one of them looked like some sort of AK (maybe an AK5).
Except for the common pistols everything else would be illegal for private use here in Austria:
+ automatic weapons
+ pump-action shotguns
+ assault weaponry
are illegal for private use here.
I think going out for shooting is fun, I honestly do. I have never fired a live gun, only played Gotcha with some friends with 6mm BB pellets, but I find guns fascinating and read up a lot on firearms and other weaponry.
Yet I would never want to own one. These things are incredible dangerous and I couldn't bear the responsibility of it falling into an inexperienced or crazy persons hands. And to say it clear again: Weapons like a Tec-9 are made for only one reason. Kill people.
Yes you can use it as a threat without wanting to kill somebody, but the fact remains that the gun was designed to be fired not to be waved around.
If you asked me I would advacate a ban on everything other than hunting rifles and small Revolvers (as opposed to Pistols, so no more PPK but still Colt Detective) for private use.
And I don't like the: "Then only criminals would have weapons" argument because: That's what the police is for, catching armed criminals. And to risk tragedies like Columbine just because some people want to go Bruce Willis on a burglar is outright stupid IMHO. And remember that with a gun in the house you are more likely to get shot during a burglary.
Actually, it was a Intratec AB-10.

Found a...website that 'covers' all the weapons these shits used:
I was actually talking about the pic you posted. That one appears to be a DC9M (but I'm not totally certain).
AFAIK Tec-9 is the weapon family, DC-9 and AB-10 are different versions.
The page you linked gives no difference between the pic of the DC9 and the AB10 but that's not quite right.

this is an AB10

this is a DC-9
For further information check out their pages at the Firearm Injury center.
AB-10 DC-9
