I'm afraid he did appear in uniform while making these comments - which is why people have had to constantly re-iterate on this thread that he is no longer serving in the army.
"NBC News broadcast videotapes of Boykin, an evangelical Christian, giving a number of speeches while wearing his military uniform at Christian functions around the country. In one speech, Boykin recalled a Muslim fighter in Somalia who said U.S. forces would never get him because Allah would give him protection. "Well, you know what I knew, that my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God, and his was an idol," Boykin told his audience..." http://www.etaiwannews.com/World/200...1066440574.htm ![]() L.Gen Boykin pictured during his speech I don't mind if people are prentious enough to continue to call themselves by their military title after leaving the service - but one should remember that, especially with foreign/less well-informed, audiences, the fact that they are civilians can easily be overlooked. The number of people who assumed that he was a serving officer (myself included) is proof enough of this. |

I stand corrected. Apparently he has appeared in uniform at some prayer meetings as have at least one other officer Gen. Richard Myers Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Gen. Myers has gone on record as stating that Boykin has broken no Military Regulations. Here is the quote.
"Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that “at first blush” he did not think Boykin’s remarks had violated any military rules. ‘GRAY AREA’ “There is a very wide gray area on what the rules permit,” Myers said, noting that he also had spoken at a prayer meeting in uniform. Here is the LINK. The quote comes from the end of the article.

I may have to stand corrected again, because I am having problems determining whether or not he really is retired. I thought I had heard the other night on NBC news that he was retired, but I can find no information concerning that.
