He's just cool. Simple as that. I mean through the game you learn a lot about him. He has a nice story behind him, his motives are clear enough etc.

He seems to have depth, and you discover more and more about his character as the game goes on. It feels like you are getting to know him.

Sephiroth runs high on my list. He is one of those villains who have indeed stressed me out emotionally game-wise. I have never felt so much hatred like I did that time. To bad I could not play the game anymore...

For villains, basically the fave character I have played is myself. RPG rocks.

Rune from Phantasy Star IV.

He comes back!!!!

He also has an amazing and uplifting tune that plays when he saves the day (google for Thray.mp3/midi). Well worth a listen.

Ahh, that man is a God!!!

Is there some connection between Noah in Phantasy Star 1, Lutz in Phantasy Star 2 and Rune in Phantasy Star 4? They all seem to be male blue-haired wizards.

I have 2, Thanatos from Secret of Mana, (higher by virtue of being such an evil bastard), and Link, from either the gameboy Zelda (Links awakening) or the SNES one (Link to the Past) well developed, intelligent games.

Well, you learn more and more about him throughout the game, even up until just before the final battle. It makes it seem like you're taking time to know him. Or something like that.
