~~mad god~~

first things first:
the rumor is that the mouse slowdown thingie will be fixed in the upcoming patch. but no confirmations from the devs yet on that!

second things second:
well, i notice in my games that using windoze drivers tends to hurt performance more than help. that's not to say that they don't work, because of course they do. but its like anything. generic brands are all right, but i much prefer getting brand name so i have someone to complain to when the product falls apart! which, in turn, is why i'm a strong believer in always using drivers made by the hardware manufacturer for anything i have installed.

i even update firmware and drivers for my disk drives! and periodically flash my bios if the mobo maker has activated new features.

more mouse suggestions:

...turn off AA for your card!!

and another thing for Win 2K

**************************************
change your desktop to Network SERVER!!!!!!! i'm trying to find the links on the official forum for that tip, but cant find it yet! (there were lotsa slowdowns discussed that apparently got solved by changing to Network Status, just for the gaming boost.)

also make sure you have SP1 installed. i don't know if SP2 is out yet.

okay. more to come as i find it!

does this mean I should install W2K Server?
Will I be able to do this thing in Workstation? I don't know.

what does AA means? ?Alternate....?
I'll look into settings to see what property has this abbreviation

well, I'll continue to struggle untill I'm bored.... then I'll sit down and play the game as is with slow inertial mouse!

thank you for more advises.

not sure about win2k, but in 95& 98 somewhere in the system part of control panel there is a option that says 'typical role of this computer', set to personal desktop by default, change it to network server for improved performance....

AA is anti-aliasing, basically smooths out images. turning it off might increase performance....

hmmm, installed w2k professional with SP2....

he-he, Morrowind's doc tells that without SP2 it glitches incredibly

driver to TNT2 is old (shipped with the card)

what I see: no character figure shown in the character panel where you equips items (pitch black), no local map shown (the same pitch black).

Some glitches with objects' polygons (not all the time, but sometimes). Once I saw strange black square spots on the ground. Quit, Enter -

spots disappeared, nothing interesting on their places.

The biggest pixels are - the faster game is(strange, yes? ) & mouse runs. But on 640x480 mouse still slightly slowed & inertial.
And this is when I have Athlon 1600+ ???????

what the ....?

Ok, I understand, my Riva is really a crap, but give me back my normal mouse speed! It should not be slowed (this is when 3D world is static -

when inventory panel is activated). What's wrong?

I do not understand and very upset.
I like the game, but this is a pain to get items from the chest, to visit inventory or spells, etc.

You've got to upgrade your drivers. My BRAND NEW GeForce4 had to be updated before I could play Morrowind, and it's only a MONTH OLD. Things move fast...

But you should also consider a new GeForce or ATI chipset card to run this game. And I don't mean just for Morrowind. As more and more RPG games go 3D (such as Neverwinter Nights) and away from 2D (Baldur's Gate) and the market generally isn't willing to accept degraded 3D imagery system requirements will be high.

Coupled with most developers are "for profit" and supporting a vast proliferation of semi-obsolete equipment does fit the calculus of profitablity, people with non-standard or marginal cards will end up out in the cold.

go to nVidia NOW and update those drivers. without DX 8.1 compliant drivers on your graphics card, you will continue seeing graphical glitches, etc.

and i certainly hope you have DX 8.1 installed on your machine. it shipped on the MW cd, so go install it if you haven't.

Mouse delay its more often than not fix by changing the resolution, try from 800x600 to the max your card support.
