Yes, if you solo, and Crock's alive, you lose the game when you touch the idol. But you can finish the game like i did the 2nd and 3rd times without the Helm of Serenity: Set Portal in the DD Temple on AP, get the DD and Return there, place it while insane (no problem) then Restoration or Sane Mind yourself.

Thanks to you all for your great information . I forgot the idol quest so I'm pretty sure I would have made a mistake there. But one little question is left :
There are many highlevel combats ( f.e. Sorceress Queen , Nessie and Souleater ) Is there a possible strategy for them ( don't know what level a character has at that points ) ? . From some posts I know that with max stealth and the chameleon spell up I can avoid some combats so maybe I can sneak around those guys and ignore them ? |

One thing I noticed playing solo:
If you are planning to switch over to bishop or other poor melee class, do a lot of melee training at low level in a melee class (i.e. don't level up, just keep fighting the lower level monsters at your low level). For me anyway, it got a lot more complicated to train weapon skills at higher levels. |

Loudhy, there are many helpful strategies for the big battles. Yes, you can use stealth to get around Nessie (I did it once). I could spend a page or 2 revealing them, or you could do a search on those names in the search box above. I'd rather not give them out unless someone is in one of those situations and I have details about the party make-up, etc.

regarding the queen, there's no way "around" her - you just have to do without the treasure you get in the back room. depending on your skill choices, that may or may not be a bad thing.

Hello Ziggurat,
I know about the "search" function of this forum, but I don't want too many hints about playing a solo ( I think I should have explained my question better , sorry ) . But I need some basic informations because, as you may know from my posts, I always start from the beginning if my party ( or solo ) character is destroyed . I also never played RPG's with a reduced party, so my experience with that gamestyle is very low. And, of course, I want to discuss questions or strategies about my games with players that are actually playing the game (that's why I joined this forum ). If I only wanted pure informations, I could simply search all the forums in the web to find a solution for my questions ( no offense, Ziggurat ) . Greetings |

About the fixed bosses: With a solo, if you fight much at all (gotta stop running and actually kill a few things) your level will be much higher by the time you get to most of the bad ones. And Souleater's main weapon is kinda nullified when you can't turn on anybody in the party...
@ Krull; i meant reload the game before entering UM. You have to fight the 2 rats, the 6 Raiders, and whatever loads in the room with the chest. It's not that bad, and the Locket is there about 20%. And if you make a temp save upon entering the UM, you can reload that once the locket is there, so you can reload the raiders if you want, say, Prospero's Cloak, or whatever. |

No offense taken, Loudhy. I was actually refering to strategies in general and not soloes, you had a legitimate question. My bad. And I agree it is better to ask the playing characters, you can be specific about your own party and it is more personal. It adds to the game experience. With long threads I occasionally lose track of the original context, which was playing solo in this case.

Scatter
Thanks for the info on the chest in the Upper Monastery. I'll definitely try this next time I start a new party. |
