Chappelle's comedy show that's on now, Killing them Softly, is hilarious. I laughed till I cried. The only thing that would have made it funnier is if he had incorporated jokes about himself and his recent rehab issues (like how Richard Pryor was able to make fun of himself after he set himself on fire).

I heard on the news something like the first day his DVD for Season 2 came out it broke a record for so many CDs bought in such a short amount of time. I'd have to say it's probably true LOL, as I also was one of those on the 24t of May who got one when it first came out (actually I got two LOL, and plan on getting another for sharing). And I remember when I got to the store, I saw about a dozen copies sitting there on the shelf, and they also had the Season 1 as well there on the same shelf. So I'm looking and talking in my head "OK, that one is Season 1, so don't want that" (hand snakes out and grabs a Season 2)...."Ok that one is Season 2 for sure, the one I want" (another hand snakes out and grabs one). Then I'm reading the cover text on the DVD box (another hand snakes out and grabs one) LOL. Finally I grew a brain and decided to just pick two of them up LOL before they were all gone. While in line, which had I'd say about 20 people were in at the time, 15 had The Chappelle Show Season 2 in their hands LOL, never seen anything like it LOL, i.e., so many buying the same thing so quickly.

Be nice if he would do a Season 3, but you know he is so popular, and that second season really was so frikken good, it must be quite a huge pressure for him to equal or top that, and maybe he's all out? I mean he really covers everything if you view both his seasons as a whole. Not to say he can't do it, but I'd hate to see him just flail at a Season 3 if he wasn't feeling it and have it suck. I can understand in some ways, for whatever reasons he stopped the next season, why he might have done it. I think until he feels inspired to be able to do the same top comedy quality, he's best not doing another season. I mean it's one thing to do a standup show now and then, but takes much more to do an entire season of comedy skits.

I think someday he will do another season, or at least we won't be seeing the last of Dave Chappelle. People are probably just pushing him hard and he needs to do things at his own pace. That's my take on the whole situation anyways.

It would appear from what I've read on another forum that this show will not be coming back, I'll track it down and post more later.

Chappelle's Show RIP?

Don't hold your breath waiting for new episodes of Chappelle's Show, which saw it's third season postponed last May amid reports that Dave Chappelle suffered a stress-related meltdown. "Chappelle's Show is done," says costar Charlie Murphy. "It took me a long time to say those words, but it's the truth." Murphy, who wouldn't reveal what ultimately did the show in, believes the footage already shot will likely be released on DVD later this year. "The stuff Dave did was remarkable," he says of the final episodes. "It [would have been] his best season yet." Counters a Comedy Central flack: "We haven't been told that Dave is not returning. He's got issues, he's dealing with them, and the ball is now in his court."
So we'll just have to wait for now. I believe Chappelle just vanished from one day to another to go to South Africa, but I'm not sure if that's really true or just one out of many rumours doing the rounds. He did sign a 50 million dollar contract a while ago with Comedy Central, so I suppose there's a chance he'll be back regardless. Oh, and reportedly, half of the new season has already been shot, and will be released directly to DVD if things stay the way they are now.

To my understanding, he had a bit of a crisis, fled the country to find someplace to find his place in the world. Think it had to do with him not believing in what he was doing and not enjoying it, so he wanted to find something he did enjoy. Its too bad about the show, but I wish him the best in finding himself and what he truly wants to do in this world.

And some more, from a guy named Orbital Lance:

Did any of you guys go into a bar within three days after the Rick James episode? All you heard anywhere if you were in college was "I'm Rick James, Bitch!" If I didn't hear that yelled at least 500 times a day until the Lil' Jon episode (when it was replaced by WHAT OKAY!!!!!) I'd be shocked.

I remember hearing Chappelle say that 12 hours after the show aired he was going to get coffee and got hit with the first guy yelling "I'm Rick James BITCH!!" at him. He said that and then the Lil' Jon shit ruined his life. He couldn't go out into public without hearing it.

Remember at some award show when he said he had to aplogize to Lil' Jon for ruining his life because he couldn't go anywhere without people yelling it at him?

Hearing "I'm Rick James BITCH!" yelled 500 times a day annoyed me enough I wanted to hide in my room. If I was the guy created it and instead of 500 times it was 1500 times a day and directed at me everytime, I would of moved to a place with no TV like Africa to and never returned.

Did anyone see the episode about Dave being chosen for jury duty?

"Maam, my blackness prevents me from answering this question."
