Reeka saw it, didn't like it much. I'll get her to post her thoughts here.

My sister did not like it either. She said, for her the characters were not very well developed. It was like the first half of the movie was going around getting the group together but you didn't know who they were. Of the characters she only recognized Hyde, and Nemo.

I felt I already knew the characters backgrounds.

I saw it yesterday. Just after I watched PotC.
It was a fun, action packed movie, that took me away from daily life for a few hours. The characters were fun to watch and even though I knew who the turncoat was before they told you in the movie, I enjoyed it.
I feel bad for people who are so critical of things they have to pick a movie apart and analyze it while they are watching it.
It's a movie. Not a great work of literary genius or a world changing event. If it takes you away to another time or place for a few minutes then it has done it's job. I find I have a much better time at movies than some of my friends who complain about almost every movie they see.

The Romans had lead, acid batteries...they used them as party gags. I hadn't heard about steam engines.

I agree 100% with you. I watch movies to entertain myself for 2 hours. I don't even try to think and anticipate while I watch it. I just put 100% of my attention into what's happening.

A movie is just some 2 hours little story. It's not the experience of a lifetime. Some people are just expecting too much.
