The book was ace, I expect the film to be also.

After seeing what Gollum looked like in the FOTR, I doubt they will make him a comical character for the film.

Hmmm.

Of the three books in thsi trilogy I thought the Two Towers sort of dragged a lot in many places.

That being said, it didn't stop me from reading it 3 or 4 times front to back not many of my books have been read that many times.

I believe there was a full body shot of Golum too when he was captured in Mordor and being tortured. Well it would have been a full frontal shot since he was tied down.

Personally the Two Towers was and has been my favorite of the three books.
I will be going to see the movie again this coming friday the 29th though, just for the
preview of TTT. Man I can't wait.

Really? Actually I thought it was the best of them. I just read them for the first time in January, and I wasn't really very impressed with the first book, much too much 'let's go here, what baddies are here', and not enough character development for my liking. I thought the Two Towers really started to flesh out the characters a lot more, though I didn't like the way all of book 3 was Aragorn and co, and all of book 4 was Frodo and Sam. I would have preferred if it switched back and forth in both books, partly because I detest Sam, and Frodo's not much better , but mostly because I couldn't work out the chronology. It would have been helpful to know that when Frodo was climbing down the cliffs, Aragorn etc were doing whatever it was they were doing at that time. Then book three was also very confusing timewise, the quite weak saving of Frodo and Sam with the magic owls (or whatever they were ), plus there was that whole excruciating finale at the Shire .

I'll agree with you on the fact that Book 2 is a hell of a lot better than most think, but 'excruciating finale'? That finale is what lifts LotR from a damn good story into a classic. Tolkien was one of the first to be brave enough to show that, after the story's over, not everyone lives happily ever after... there's always something left to do.

The Scouring of the Shire is one of the best parts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I have heard that it will not be in the movie

I guess that's true, maybe I was just sick of them all by that time. Plus I really wasn't very enamoured with any of the hobbits, frankly. Is there something wrong with me?
