One more thing, wellard: never be afraid to SPEND MONEY. Healing potions, bags of holding, range weapon ammuntion (always a good investment) - all of these things you can randomly come across, but it is far better to have tons of them before leaving the inn itself. A favourite tactic of mine is (at lower levels) find the thieves and assassins running around down and have them follow you - right into the arms of the Waterdeep City Guard. Sure, you gain no experience for their deaths, but the money you make for selling their items is a great way to start. And now that (hopefully) even more new stores will be opening up, who knows what you'll be able to afford?

Well spent cash is one step towards great looking XP benefits later on in the game. Trust a hoarder on this one. *smiles*

Dan, how goes the new patch? Not sure if it's been reported or if it's just a glitch we encountered, but hubby and I found that we can't see Moric's portrait anymore. It's a big white square for us.

PS: Hey Moz, not sure if you know Wellard at all, but he's a very experienced gamer from way back. So he's not new to gaming, just to the Undermountain experience.

Hey Cloudy,

Yeah that one has been reported. It was a glitch with the CEP portraits in the new patch.

Should be fixed when the new patch is released.

That's what I thought! Thanks, TDC! Played a bit tonight but the server is down at the moment.

Okay, Ziroc, can you give us a listing of where the latest updates are going to be? Just so we know where to go and with the right level of characters as to not spoil anything? I have plenty of characters over and under twenty levels, so I am good to go no matter where you've placed the bonuses. As well, are there new forms of ammunition coming up in the module? A little curious as I had a few ranged weapon specialist ideas I wanted to try out...

LOL, calm down there, Moz! Just a suggestion here, but why don't you just explore and find the stuff as you go? I mean how much fun is it really, to know EXACTLY where all the goodies are all the time? Not much of an adventure or treasure hunt if you have x marks the spot on everything!

I dunno, call me crazy, but I think some folks like the challenges and the surprises! I don't mind knowing about major tile and map changes of course, but knowing where each and every little thing is... kinda too much for me. Spoils some of the fun of finding the really cool stuff.

AND more importantly from my perspective, if details on exactly where the 'good stuff' is found are posted for all the world to see...it encourages the "looters" who take high level characters into the area JUST to get that item/quest for the reward, leaving no chance for those of us who like the adventure and fun aspects of the place and aren't in it JUST for the powergaming or loot to sell or give away. So every time we'd get to a 'special' area, we'd find nothing but the unwanted helmets and boots lying around. Now that's just my opinion, take it or leave it as you wish, but that's how I feel about the game and the mod and I know a lot of other players who think along those lines as well.

Besides, I'm not sure Z is going to want to spend so much time typing out the exact details of each change he's made with the thousands of changes he's got going on a regular basis! He'd have carpal tunnel syndrome in a week! LOL

Nothing personal, Moz! But some of that is why I don't play as much as I'd like to when I have time online. I hate going from looted area to looted area, no quests just lots of respawned baddies, and no rewards per se for killing them other than a little xp and you don't even have the perk of participating in a quest or two. Sometimes the quests and the special items you get for rewards or find in unexpected drops etc ARE the fun part of playing for some of us, that's all.

For me, it is quite a lot of fun. I am not going through the first time around in terms of treasure hunting rather than scouting topography. In better terms, I want to do some sightseeing before I actually start "looting" or looking for new devices and such. That was why I was quite thrilled when I got my first look at the new Trollbark Swamp area. Huge, not completely above water (therefore being like a real swamp), filled with placeables I had never seen before. To me, that was more important than even the treasure. And you know (now) how much I like my treasure.

Crazy. *grins ferally* (Hey, you DID tell me to call you that.) On a more sombre tone, it'd be far easier to make a spoilers thread for those whom have actually found the new areas I surmise. I wanted the information quicker, is all. The "cool stuff" tends to find me via adventuring alongside a few others or random jaunts to stores where someone has dropped it off. I'll then spend time trying to locate where they got it from. What can I say? I do things backwards in that respect.

Good point on the looting aspect. I've done it myself, but usually for higher level items, period. Then again, I tend to stockpile a lot. It helps when you don't feel like taking the opportunity from someone else, but you still need a certain style of item. Works well in sections where very few people hit or complete.

Eventually there might be a way of scripting events to trigger once per individual login - much similar to the Durnan quest. I believe anyone who logs in may do that quest and complete it regardless of how many times people have finished the quest before them.

Actually, there is a way to do it, it involves variables. If you've been in a party that's done the quest, you get set to 1, if not then you can get the quest. We use a similar system at Fates for the quest cheesers; go ahead and cheese up the quest items, you can only turn it in once...Works great too, and isn't persistent, so you can do the quest again after it loads. Right now, it seems that Z sets the quest variable on the NPC. If he changed that to the PC, or an item that the PC has in his possession, it would make the quests doable by others in game, that haven't received the reward.

Edit: Everybody gets one standard item too. The contract. Quest variables could be set to that. The only thing you might run into is if the variable didn't clear on a reload.

Meaning it'd be a lot more work for Ziroc (sadly). Well, it is a possibility that had to be voiced. Maybe in time it could be implimented. That way it would allow for people whom are not treasure-hounding to get some of the more rare quests even if the module had been up for some time. Then again, I am sure that will all the added content, Ziroc has a few (dozen) more quest ideas he is going to be scattering around the module. And I know there are some quests so far you cannot do unless you are AT LEAST a certain level, so there might be a way to set up a few quests that can only be done if you are UNDERNEATH a certain level.

Once more, my familiarity with scripting is non-existent, so I would have no idea where one would begin. It was definitely allow for "blocking" of characters of terrifyingly high levels removing opportunities for lower level characters. (exampli gratias: "you must be four feet tall to go on this ride" vs. "you cannot have more than 1800 lbs. inside this elevator.")
