While not directly relating to this topic I had loads of problems installing TOB. After reading that the baldurdash patches can cause problems, I decided to uninstall SOA and then reinstall so I'd have a clean version just with the official patch. After uninstalling I discovered that there was an error on Cd2 so I could not reinstall. I then had to buy a whole new copy of SOA but then when I installed it there ended up an error. The file that was damaged on my original copy was the CREanim1.bif which contains the creature animations. I had tried to restore it manually so I could install without buying a new copy but it didn't work. Unfortunately my new install didn't overwrite this file which was only half there, so my game keep crashing. Then when I finally got TOB I first got the text bug because I forgot I had edited the dialogue file and then couldn't load my game because a custom item I downloaded would no longer work. Needless to say I really appreciate being able to play TOB now. If I hadn't uninstalled in the first place I would have been fine.
So just remember me if you think you're having bug problems.

Memnoch & crew,

Two things-

a) Is it possible to get the save games to a safe location if you decide to reload SoA as a fresh install? I have my better games as multiplayer ones, and cannot seem to find the buggers inside the directory
People mightn't mind reinstalling and all that if they could get to their old games. Or at least their characters?

b) Maybe this thread no longer needs "Bumps"? The referring message does, of course.
(I could be wrong. But they might be candidates for editing out,if possible, and if you have the time & inclination, as they just stretch out the topic without adding anything useful?)

Murphy's Law dictates that the minute this falls off the front page, someone will have a problem and will post a question.

Re: the save games, there should be a folder called MPSave in your BG2 folder. It's where all the multiplayer saves are located. ALWAYS save your savegames when deinstalling and reinstalling BG2 or ToB.

Custom Items? Exactly how do you make one? These bugs don't have anything to due with custom voices do they?

No, they only affect anything that modifies your dialog.tlk file (custom item descriptions are stored in this file).
