After reading your post, I actually made a new couple team for a new game. I went with an Invoker wife, and a Thief husband. I've never played either class, so I figured I'd give it a go. I deviated from my norm and actually made these characters neutral rather than evil for a change.

My planned NPCs (I'll rotate them as they come) are:
Xan
Ajantis
Faldorn
Coran
Yeslick
Quayle

I've never played with any of them, so this should be interesting.

I have had to enlist Jah and Kha to help them out so far (probably keep them until, as they are too weak to go it alone. I actually also enlisted Edwin AND Minsc and then just did the Gnoll Stronghold quest. I took the neutral route in the dialogue when the killing time came and watched the show. I actually saved just before initiating the dialogue with Dyna and reloaded it a few times to see the variations on how their little tiff turned out. My last load was the best as it was the most dramatic.
Tiax is a pretty funny character. I have him in an older game with a necormancer PC. I buffed him up and even dare to put him on the front lines. He just seems so impressive from what he says- I am starting to believe it!

Your posts about your current campaigns, etc. are always so interesting. Thanks.

I have never had Minsc, Edwin, and Dynaheir in a party together although I've always wanted to do that. I've also never selected the option to have Edwin and Dynaheir duke it out. If I try out yet one more party composition I have to include that on the agenda. I still would like to get Faldorn into a party somehow...

I wish I had tried using the NPCs you and I have both listed sooner, because they really are fun. I especially like Yeslick so far (just added him today). I had heard not such good things about Tiax, but he sounds like he could provide some comic relief; his dialogue certainly looks like it could be a hoot.

I love reading your accounts of your adventures, so please keep that coming as well!

Thankee. I remember taking one of those goofy class and alignment tests and the result was bard. I was a little surprised, I was figured it would more likely be mage.

I'm curious, how exactly are you switching the special abilities that each person will get?

Just switching them to the front of the party doesn't do it, do you export and import them at the character arbritration screen?

Nice idea by the way...though maybe you could have made the Druid into something else so you could have had Faldorn in there too.

I've always been a champion of bards...

I always play in multiplayer mode (even if I'm using only one player-generated character). Whichever player-character is placed in the top left slot is the protagonist. When you wish to make a change of protagonist in a case like this you can export the two player characters, save and close the game, reopen the game, delete their existing slots, and switch their slots as you import the ones you had exported.

I actually opted not to do this so I could see if Dark Side gives a protagonist druid some of the expanded shapeshifting special abilities. After completing the Cloakwood mines he got his first shapeshifting special ability: wolf, black bear, and brown bear. I'm interested to see if he will eventually get sword spider, mustard jelly, and ogre. But I may yet give the very last special ability to the bard, because it looks like with Dark Side a bard might get create posioned arrows and create poisoned bolts.
