I think the point here is that the Matron Mother's quest to obtain blood from one of the elders gives you enough time to complete all three lairs, assuming that you are well prepared and don't need to rest for healing too much. That's why I had never realized that there was a time limit (3 days, according to Xen's post).

The answer to the original question is: Yes, you can complete all three lairs in the time allotted. It is possible and has been done.

The more important point is that you don't need to do so, since all the lairs are accessible throughout your stay in the underdark.

thanks for your answers...i decided to finish all three lairs in one go, and i did, in less then 24 hours game time (i didn't rest even once actually), no cheating of course..
