how to start a romance?

Positive. I've had Aerie die many many (many many many [img]tongue.gif[/img] ) times and she always continued her romance with me. If she was chunked or imprisoned and I was romancing her, then I'd have to reload, though.

Atm I got a romance with both jaheira and viconia (special music playing with both). I assume I can only have 1 romance? I guess I just need say something a bit rude to stop the other one then.

Last thing viconia said was something about her being attracted by my PC, seems like it's going pretty good then [img]smile.gif[/img]

Keep going with both of them. At some point, they'll force you to commit one way or t'other.

Viconia is one heck of a task mistress. She wants a man's man -- erm, or a woman's man in drow-speak. She's easily the easiest on the eyes, and since the council of Waterdeep heard the case of Loving v. Virginia decades ago, it's legal to marry her. She's definately a frisky minx worthy of attention. She also kicks arse if you buff up her strength and give her a huge honkin' warhammer, but you'll come asking about magic weapons later I think. There is one buggy lovetalk loop with Viconia IIRC that can be a bit annoying -- though the appropriate patches may fix that. (GET PATCHED!)

Jaheira is a hen-pecked experience extraordinaire. She was also my favorite, has some really cool subquests, and was a good mate for my Ranger. I liked her so much that in the end.... well, let's not spoil the story for you. Regardless, she's a fine mate and her romance has some interesting spiritual and intellectual growth issues. If you give her a good scimitar and tank her to the max with heavy armor and shield, she can kick arse, too. And, Keldorn nicknamed her "Deadeye Jah-rules" with the sling. One complaint with Jaheira is that her romance is "buggy." I only tried it once, however, and it worked for me. Save early, save often, and you'll be able to reload a pre-existing game if it goes all buggy on you.

Is Charisma also a thing that you need for romance...I mean it stands for appearance and so forth...

Yes, that's correct, but there is extension and further dimensions added in a ToB game. Surely you didn't think it was all over after sleeping with them [img]tongue.gif[/img] [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I must confess that despite owning ToB for positively ages i've never once carried a romance through into it though [img]graemlins/blush.gif[/img]
