I don't understand hoarding. I sell off things I don't need before every chapter end. If I can't use it, have no plans to use it, I sell it. I'm not heavy into surveillance or backstabbing, so Invisibility potions get sold. I only keep spell scrolls if they're powerful, rare, or one-shot useful. (Like you're not going to need Stone to Flesh until it happens, right? So why waste a spell slot?)

Ammo I can understand. Move into Cernd's house and turn it into your own fletchery. Saves you from having to purchase them in the future. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I'm a big hoarder too... in all games (not only RPGs), always most items with limited uses I end up saving and finally not using them at all... . This has somehow been reduced since I played IWD2 (after it really got out of hand in IWD1), and now as I'm playing BG2 for the third time one of my resolutions is not to hoard.

I'm a terrible hoarder, both in gaming and in RL. I rarely use potions, even healing potions (I do the infamous "pass around the regenerating item(s)"). I usually have upward of 30 healing potions left, along with pretty much all of the specialty potions. The only ones I sell are the regular strength and dexterity potions (The ones that only set you to 18; I have other items that do that more efficiently). Scrolls I'm really not too bad at, because I'll just "erase/rescribe" or just sell them. Ammo is into the realm of the ridiculous (the worst thing I ever did was install Ease of Use!). I never use this stuff (hell, I just go and rest if I'm too badly beat up), so I should just sell it. But I can't bring myself to do it, just in case.

I tend to hoard potions too. My biggest problem is that I hold on to items that I will never use. Hell, I even hold on to items that I can't even use .

Xen: I think making an 'anti-NPC' groupie is forbidden, not 'clans.'

The way to solve this is to run a solo character or a party that has no source of healing or any spells of any sort except from potions and other items.

To put it bluntly, no more new societies. Attempts to create a new society/clan/group/etc... will be dealt with and neutralised without warning. There are some existent societies already, such as the Aerie Sacred Loving Band, Anti-Anomen Society, etc... ...

I have hoards of +1 Arrows in ToB. It's insane. About 4000 or so of them.

However, the rest of the stuff, I'm pretty good with. Scrolls, I just sell off or rescribe. Potions, as a solo, I just chug 'em down almost as fast as I get them in the early game. Whatever I can't use, I sell. After all, it's a race to the Robe of Vecna, Amulet of Power, and recharged Wands, and every penny counts. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I never use wands, though I tend to hoard wands of fireballs (the rest I sell). I never EVER use priestly scrolls, though I always keep a stone-to-flesh and the one that cures level drain 'just in case'... and promptly use a memorised cleric spell instead. Mage scrolls I scribe (I always have at least 2 mage magic users), hoard usefull ones in case I change NPCs and need to scribe the spell for them, and sell any I have no other use for.

Potions... well...
-Quick-slot #1 on every character is used for hoarding healing potions (whatever level potion Im up to finding lots of).
-My thief always has a stash of Speed, Invis, Master Thievery.
-Fighters hoard potion-of-explosions etc, strength 21+, and Cure poison

everything else Ive learnt to sell... though I only ever use healing potions... and only then if its during combat, because they're faster than spells

Ammo is the worst. I would go nuts without EoU for stacking arrows and bullets (I dont use crossbows much)

And then... there are the hoarded weapons... only items with names or +2 armour etc.... and I always find a room in Athkatla (eg Cernd, front of thieves guild etc) with lots of containers so I can stash items for later retrival (though I almost never do) or quest items I'll never need again, like keys. Weapon parts go here too until I have all the parts to build them


It's a disease... so many of us have it... the "Just-In-Case" bug
