Although I've found that you can extend Valen's time limit if you want to: If your 2 or 3 days are almost up, just go shopping--get your gold down below 15 grand, and then go to the Graveyard District. Bodhi will make some comment about how much you like spending, and tells you to come back when you've got the money.
