I can confirm with 100% certainty that it is completely possible to leave the Underdark, go and spend as much time farting around Amn as you want, and re-enter the Underdark. Since your disguise has faded, the city of Ust Natha will be hostile to you.....but you can still do ALL of the other quests, including the Eastern Tunnels and the Southern Tunnels.

I've decided to go to this damn mind flayer city anyway.
And yes, you were correct the hilt is in the flayer city, and the blade in the beholder lair.

Is the Equalizer even that good?
Right now I have Minsc with the FoA and the Namara(I think)
But would I be better off with just the Equilizer(It's a two handed sword right?)
Or should I just get the Celestial Fury when I get back to Athkatla?
I never knew where it was until the other day my sister, who's still in the city, ran over and told me about this awsome weapon she found. When I saw it was the CF I just had to get it, but since I'm in the underdark, I dont want to leave because I want to do all the stuff in Ust Natha first.

When completed, the Equalizer will be a Long Sword.
