Nobody except Johnny answered my Q - is there any way to play on after I've taken Rome? I suppose I could lay siege to it and then lift the siege with 1 round to go, and keep repeating, but that seems silly. I want to continue to conquer...

It's such a shame...I'd just managed to get all the cool Roman units (Pretorian Cohorts, Urban Cohorts, etc) after the Marius Reforms, and I didn't even get to use any of them!

Tried it.
It's nice that you can now see where the previously unplayable factions start out.
And the descriptions of those factions are great as well, wouldn't know if they're historically accurate though.
Only went to the faction selection screen, so don't know if there's anything ele I should have tested, those things were all you changed wasn't it?

Just ignore Rome then, concentrate on other provinces first. Seems to me that if you can keep playing until mentioned date, there's plenty of time to conquer the whole map. I'd like to battle the Parthians, and the other factions from the east as well for a change, never even seen those guys.

Btw...the game isn't over when you conquer Rome as far as i know, you also need to occupy 50 provinces.

Well, I did that - Rome must've been the 50th. Playing as the Julii I basically took the 50 by 221BC - I took all of Gaul (except for Britain and one Gaulish province the Pommies had - they were my allies and I wanted to keep that flank secure), all of Germania, all of Dacia, all of Thrace including Byzantium, Tylis and Byzalora and all the way up to Vicus Venedae to the north), all of Iberia (eliminated the Spanish), all of North Africa all the way to Lybia (eliminated the Numidians and Carthaginians) and was starting on the Ponts and those fellas directly to the east of Vicus Gothi (whoever they were). When civil war broke out I took Capua, Tarentum, Syracuse and a few of the Greek cities, but I stupidly decided to attack Rome after I'd built enough siege towers, ladders and rams, and unfortunately I was victorious.

I think if you play a short campaign, when you win you are asked if you want to keep playing.

Here's a part of the readme from my mod:

Quote:
You might have noticed that apparently, RTW wasn't totally completed.
Of all the playable factions, only the 3 roman ones have a picture of their leader in the faction selection screen.
Of all the locked faction, 2 have a description and no map, while all the other ones have both no map and no description. All
factions without description also had their name as "imperial_campaign" in their description box.

This mod try to fix those problems. Now all factions have a map, description and a leader portrait.
So yes StigTC, these are the only changes. It's only a cosmetic mod because I got tired of having a messed up Faction Selection screen, and I had no clue who the faction were or where they started, so I changed that.

Has anyone played as the Seleucids? They seem a bit better balanced than the Carthaginians - they've got a bit better infantry and proper archers. And those scythe chariots!!

I haven't played those myself, but i'm at war with them in my current campaign with the Egyptians. They're pretty tough, especially those heavy armoured infantry units have cost me quite a few chariots. An they also have an alliance with Carthage, Nubia, and Parthia, which leaves me all alone in the middle.

I crush the Seleucids as soon as I get a chance. In my current game they are desperate, I crush a city, than make peace, crush a city than make peace. They have two cities left and are no longer willing to make peace. They are in a vice between the Brutti(Me) and the Egyptians. We are all at war and the weak Seleucids are the victim of our war as they a right in the middle. Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!

I love this game

Just a note on the three Roman fractions since I have played all 3 and all three games have been totally different. Of the three I found the Scipii to be the longest and hardest to play namely due to positioning. For these I concentrated on my navy for the most part to be able to move troops around alot without difficulty, and concentrated on islands and the Carthaginians, and Nubians first, followed by Spain. My power ended up be concentrated in the South and West. I did not go so far North as Britain, Just so far as France. And as far SW as the last province, but North just past Jerusalem.

The Brutti I found easiest, with less concentration on Navy only areas were I wanted to move troops quickly, and started off by taking over the Temple of Zeus, possibly why I had very few revolts. My power is mostly East, and central and I have taken every thing east so far as the Hanging Gardens. I only need ten more provinces to complete this game so I will probably start going West, towards Spain or a little more North to get the remainder as it is closer to by capital city. I will let the The Scipii and Egypt fight over the south as that is all is left down there.

The Jullii is like a balance between the Brutii and Scipii, seems to require a balance of navy and army. Starting by expanding west and then North and South to defeat Spain, the Guals, and the Carthaginians. I found expanding East difficult due to the Bruttis fast expansion west early on.

Of the three Games only Britain as never been completely defeated by me or any other Fraction.
