I wonder what he will say to defend himself? I can't think of much he CAN say except perhaps just point the blame at the other guy, and no jury is ever gonna buy that.

Probably argue brainwashing or duress. Stockholm syndrome sort of thing. I saw a long expose on his mum, and when she tried to separate them the last 2 times, he told her to go away because her life was at risk.

Anyway, as to him defending himself, my wife the prosecutor would say, "GREAT!!!"

A part of me groans at the revelation. Moussaoui representing himself has (from this outsider's perspective) wandered in circles in a hope of finding a way out, and I fear that the same thing will happen here.

Then again, perhaps he won't be able to get a retrial based on claims of attorney incompetence...

From his opening remarks, though, it sounds like the stock of J&J (makers of Tylenol), Bayer (Bayer aspirin), and Wyeth (Advil) are going to go up...

TL, this is John Mohummad, not the boy. His trial hasn't come up yet. As for John's future, I think his destiny includes either a needle or some juice. I don't have a clue what the State of Virginia uses.

Remember Lincoln's statrment... A man who represents himself in court has a fool for a client.

Of course Lincoln was always looking for a fee....

We here in the Commonwealth of Virginia use lethal injection to destroy our murderers. Which is too bad, because I miss the electric chair.

Question Mark

Actually, his defense could be quite simple: did anyone see him shoot anyone?
All the evidence is going to be circumstancial only; true, plenty of people are convicted on circumstancial evidence only, but the case is weaker because of that and will guarantee an appeal.

I am unclear as to his motive; at least, I haven't heard anything about it. Was he trying to prove a point? Was he distraught? Was he simply insane?

Also, why do people refer to him a the "sniper"? I think he qualifies for the even nastier label of "terrorist"; as such, a shrewd prosecutor could even stretch the charges to treason and go for a Federal death penalty.

Terrorists usually have some sort of goal greater than "go kill people". AFAIK This guy doesn't.
